Al Maun Foundation

History:
Al Maun Foundation is an independent, non-profit right base organization, founded in 2010 by group of local university graduates who were politically enlightened and realized that they owe a great deal of return to the society at large in 2009. Widespread ignorance, poverty, sectarianism, violence, non democratic culture & values, human especially women rights violations and social backwardness of the region of Southern Punjab because of the feudalism and constant military regimes only provided extra impetus to this group of youth.
Purpose:
We believe that Al Maun Foundation has a critical role to play in the women’s rights movement in South Punjab, in enabling women’s rights activists and organizations from South Punjab to carry out their work, as well as appear on a common platform to facilitate mutual learning.

Al Maun Foundation has contributed in raising awareness on women and girls’ rights and gender issues. It has highlighted disparities towards marginalized groups of society and launched advocacy campaigns on women and girls’ human rights issues by organizing events, theater/puppet shows, talks, training, workshops and seminars and conferences.

To create an engendered, critical society based on the universal principles of human dignity, justice, democracy and peaceful coexistence
MISSION
To create enabling environment for participatory governance and sustainable collective action for peace, human security and regional cooperation through organization of marginalized sections of the society and development of their capacities.
