About Nari Gunjan

Nari Gunjan, established in 1987, is a women's organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities, particularly Dalit, poor, agricultural laborers, and rural women. These women, facing atrocities by men of the same caste and other castes, economic dependencies, social discrimination, political invisibility, and cultural neglect, found strength and unity through Nari Gunjan. The organization emerged from the need to address atrocities based on caste, gender, and class, providing a platform for women to voice their concerns.

• Mission: To conscientize and uplift deprived sections, uphold education for change, create health awareness, fight against violence, assist women in economic independence, and promote leadership among women.

Objective: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Nari Gunjan plays a crucial role in overseeing the organization's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient implementation of programs, and driving strategic initiatives to fulfil the NGO's mission of empowering women and marginalized communities.

Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership:

• Provide strategic leadership to ensure effective implementation of Nari Gunjan's programs and projects.

• Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and execute organizational strategies.

• Oversee the development and execution of annual operating plans and budgets.

2. Program Management:

• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

• Evaluate the impact of programs, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

• Foster innovation and creativity in program design and execution.

3. Team Leadership:

• Provide strong leadership to the program and operational teams, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

• Mentor and develop team members, ensuring their professional growth.

• Encourage a culture of accountability, transparency, and high performance.

4. Employee Engagement:

• Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

• Organize and coordinate team-building activities, events, and recognition programs.

5. Training and Development:

• Identify training needs within the organization and develop training programs accordingly.

• Coordinate professional development opportunities for employees to enhance their skills.

• Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness.

6. Community Mobilization:

• Engage with our communities to understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations.

• Organize and mobilize community members for collective action on issues affecting them.

• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness programs.

7. Advocacy and Campaigning:

• Identify and champion social issues, human rights, and woman and girl education that require attention and action.

• Develop and lead campaigns to raise awareness and advocate for positive social change.

• Collaborate with like-minded organizations and individuals to strengthen advocacy efforts.

8. Partnership Building:

• Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

• Represent Nari Gunjan in relevant forums, conferences, and networks.

• Explore collaborative opportunities to enhance the organization's impact.

9. Networking and Collaboration:

• Build and maintain strong networks with NGOs, activists, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

• Collaborate on joint initiatives, share resources, and amplify collective impact.

• Represent the organization in collaborative efforts and partnerships.

10. Financial Management:

• Work closely with the Finance Department to develop budgets aligned with organizational objectives.

• Monitor financial performance, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.

• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue generation.

11. Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and donor requirements.

• Oversee the preparation and submission of timely and accurate reports to donors and governing bodies.

• Submit monthly progress reports for all projects and an annual report to the Secretary.

12. Risk Management:

• Identify and mitigate risks that may impact the achievement of organizational goals.

• Implement effective risk management strategies to safeguard the organization's reputation.

13. Advocacy and Representation:

• Act as a spokesperson for Nari Gunjan, effectively communicating its mission, vision, and impact.

• Engage with policymakers, advocating for policies that align with the organization's objectives.

14. Innovation and Initiative:

• Explore new initiatives for the empowerment of women, girls, and boys, such as skill development and livelihood programs.

• Drive innovation in program design and implementation to address emerging needs.

Qualification:

1. Only female candidates can apply for this position

2. Candidate must have 10-15 years of relevant experience in the Social Sector

3. She must have a Graduate and Master from a reputed college in India.

4. She must have been in program management or a senior position with experience.

5. She is good at designing programs to ensure quality learning in community centres and schools.

6. She understands the Socio-emotional needs of the student and can design and implement them in the curriculum.

7. She is good at written and oral English. She can write proposals and reports that follow international standards.

8. She is good at organizational development and the design process for OD in different domains.

9. Excellent communication skills, respect for colleagues and counterparts, and a strong willingness to support other team members in need, to share knowledge and expertise with others, and to take initiatives to contribute to improve teamwork.

10. Being able to implement and complete tasks by oneself from the beginning till the end within a planned time schedule.

11. Have a growth oriented mindset, and should be willing to take on new challenging tasks and roles in a proactive manner to expand his or her capabilities.

12. Follow the rules and manuals determined by Nari Gunjan.

General Administrative responsibilities:

• Guide & Supervise program staff in their day-to-day functioning.

• Support program managers to set up SOPs and systems to develop impactful strategies.

• Align work plan, budget, and activities across all the programs undertaken by the Secretary.

• Facilitate knowledge dissemination, reporting, and communications.

• Oversee data management and analysis.

• Work in tandem with the resource acquisition team for donor engagement.

Others Requirements:

1. Nari Gunjan works in three districts so each week you have to visit some of our centres, or schools or work with women.

2. Your head office will be in Patna.

Probation Period:

If a candidate is selected to join Nari Gunjan as COO, there will be a three-month initial probation period, which may be extended from time to time
