About the Role:

The CanKids Education program is a comprehensive initiative designed to support children from the moment of their cancer diagnosis until they reintegrate into normal life, including their right to mainstream education. The program includes various educational services such as Non-Formal Education, Formal Education, Therapeutic Education, Scholarships, Learning Activity Clinics (LACs) in OPDs or open ward areas, Canshala schools, Hospital Ward Side Programs, and Online Canshala.

Job Description:

As the Head of Education, you will be responsible for leading and managing the entire educational program, ensuring that each vertical operates efficiently and effectively. Below is an indicative set of responsibilities you will be required to lead as part of your role. We believe that a job description is best created collaboratively, where the individual joining the team and the senior leadership team together define the role in greater detail, so it reflects your aspirations and ambitions as much as it does the organization's needs. Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery:

• Manage and improve current systems and structures to analyse field data and iterate programmatic design based on field insights for supporting program verticals.

• Provide regular updates on project progress against key metrics to the COO.

• Ensure smooth implementation of the program across all partner hospitals and care Centers.

• Support the Senior Program Manager in overseeing the entire program delivery process, from conducting baseline assessments to roll-out, troubleshooting, and final assessments.

• Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the scholarship program across regions.

• Plan and implement events as per the CanKids calendar.

Facility Management:

• Oversee Canshala set-up projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, procurement, and budgeting, in coordination with HQ and regional teams.

• Review and approve plans for new projects, ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines.

• Monitor projects for cost overruns and schedule slippage, and take corrective action as needed.

Strategy & Team Management:

• Operate with a strong sense of ownership and urgency, making informed decisions for the Program Design & Delivery team.

• Support Senior Managers in each project vertical to create a vision, set goals, and organize work streams effectively.

• Help Senior Managers develop detailed project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.

• Troubleshoot issues, establish support structures, and create an environment that enhances team efficiency and productivity.

• Establish systems and processes to capture learnings from implementation, allowing for continuous program improvement.

Curriculum & Content Development:

• Design and implement innovative projects that address the challenges faced by health-impaired children.

• Collaborate with educators, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive project execution.

• Lead the creation of curriculum for non-formal and formal education for students undergoing cancer treatment.

• Research and design teaching resources and instructional content with a strong understanding of subject matter and context.

• Ensure timely delivery of teacher handbooks, workbooks, and other learning materials.

• Design clear and comprehensive guidelines for high-quality digital content for Class 1-5 students, to be used as interactive lessons in the classroom.

• Manage the content creation cycle, setting processes and structures to ensure high-quality output.

• Observe teaching sessions at CanKids Hospital Support Units to understand context and strategize the effective adoption of instructional design materials.

Team Management:

• Lead and inspire a team of educators and specialists, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

• Establish and refine systems to monitor progress and outcomes, ensuring that the team remains focused on achieving high standards.

• Provide regular feedback and support to team members, promoting professional development and continuous improvement.

• Track project progress and support the team in achieving overall and individual goals.

• Facilitate collaboration on team projects and tasks to achieve collective goals.

Challenges You Will Help Solve at CanKids KidsCan:

• Address the unique challenges faced by health-impaired children in the education space.

• Plan and implement projects that apply various methodologies to address these challenges.

• Contribute to the growing body of knowledge on what works and what doesn’t in improving last-mile educational outcomes for children, with a focus on the Indian context.

• As the Head of Education, you will be responsible for ensuring that your team is held accountable to a high standard of excellence, with a singular focus on outcomes. You will set up or improve the systems that allow

Qualifications:

Education:

• Master’s degree in Education or related field (PhD preferred).

Experience:

• 10+ years in educational leadership or program management, ideally with health-impaired or special needs children.

• Proven track record in team management and program delivery.

• Experience in non-traditional educational settings, such as hospitals.

Skills:

• Strong leadership, organizational, and project management abilities.

• Analytical mindset, with data-driven decision-making.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Understanding of challenges faced by health-impaired children.
