Job Description- THEMATIC LEAD- CHILD CARE SERVICES PARTNERSHIP

Mobile Creches, (MC) a pioneer NGO, has been operational since 1969, reaching early childhood care and development services to more than 20,000 marginalised young children every year, through workplace and urban community-based crèches and day care centres, in different cities of India. MC’s multi-pronged approach - quality services, capacity building, and ECD partnerships facilitates the access of young children and their working mothers to overlapping rights of good health, adequate nutrition, early learning, and responsive caregiving in a safe and caring environment.

In its strategic period commencing from April 2022, MC aims to accelerate access to quality ECD for half a million children by supporting sustainable childcare ecosystems, in partnership with government, civil society organisations, businesses, communities, parents and other key stakeholders, across India. It aims to grow from 120 employees to around 200, from annual expenditure of Rs 12 crores to Rs 50 crores in the next 5 years.

Position Details

Designation- THEMATIC LEAD- CHILD CARE SERVICES PARTNERSHIP

Level/ Band- 5

Geographical Location: NEW DELHI

Reporting to: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR-STRATEGY & IMPACT

Reported By: State Leads and Senior Implementors overseeing NGO and government partnership childcare services across India (Delhi NCR, Karnataka, Haryana, Odisha, and other states)

Educational Qualifications- Post-Graduation in Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field preferred

Total work Experience in the relevant field- Minimum 10 years in the social development sector, with 2-3 years in a managerial role

Thematic Lead Child Care Services Partnership will be instrumental in the development, management, and expansion of high-quality childcare models across India. This role includes overseeing partnerships, ensuring service quality, managing resources, interfacing with stakeholders, and actively contributing to strategic growth.

Job Description- Responsibilities included and not limited to –

1. Operational Excellence in Childcare Services

• Ensure high-quality childcare services through partnerships with government bodies and NGOs.

• Expand government and NGO partnerships nationwide, advocating for child-centric policies and schemes.

• Provide support to teams across states, tracking progress and building capacity for consistent, quality service.

2. Quality Assurance

• Oversee quality standards across all MC childcare models in each state, ensuring uniformity and excellence.

3. Resource Optimization

• Ensure optimal utilization of funds and resources across all MC-operated centers and partnerships.

4. Stakeholder Engagement

• Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector allies for ECD initiatives targeting rural, tribal, and construction site children.

5. Program Expansion

• Lead the expansion of childcare models into new settings, identifying potential sites and settings for new programs.

6. Program Outreach and Visibility

• Collaborate with the communications team to support outreach through social media, website content, print media, and annual reports.

7. Impact Assessment

• Coordinate with internal and external teams to assess the impact of MC’s programs, supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team with accurate data collection.

8. Resource Mobilization

• Foster relationships with current and potential donors to secure both financial and non- financial resources.

• Design and develop project funding proposals, ensuring compliance with reporting and financial requirements.

9. Continuous Improvement

• Commit to ongoing learning and professional development to enhance MC’s childcare service delivery.

10. Organizational Leadership

• Serve as a key member of the Organizational Management Group, contributing to the strategic direction and senior leadership of Mobile Creches.

Key Competencies required-

1. In-depth knowledge of India’s socio-economic and political landscape related to ECD.

2. Strategic thinker with a capacity for innovation.

3. Strong interpersonal and team management skills.

4. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and digital communication tools.

5. Effective communication skills, with an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi- cultural team.

6. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
