Terms of Reference (TOR) for Right First Time (RFT) Implementation in Wet Processing Mills (Dyeing)
Project Title: Right First Time (RFT) Implementation in Wet Processing Mills (Dyeing & Printing)
Project Implementer: Centre for Social Markets
Target Audience: MSME Wet Processing Mills (Dyeing & Printing) in the Textile Sector
1. Background
The Right First Time (RFT) methodology aims to reduce re-processing, minimize waste, and optimize resource use by ensuring that the dyeing process achieves the desired quality in the first attempt. This initiative, supported by the European Union under the Switch Asia Project, will enhance the sustainability performance of MSME factories by promoting efficient dyeing practices.
Centre for Social Markets seeks to engage experienced consultants or service providers to implement RFT in selected wet processing mills (dyeing & printing) and support capacity-building efforts.
2. Objectives
Implement Right First Time (RFT) methodology in selected MSME dyeing & printing units.
Reduce water, energy, chemical consumption, and reprocessing rates.
Enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Build the capacity of factory personnel on sustainable dyeing and printing practices.
Document best practices and success stories for knowledge dissemination.
3. Scope of Work
The selected consultant or service provider will be responsible for executing the following tasks:
3.1 Baseline Assessment
Conduct a comprehensive review of the current dyeing and printing processes in the selected mills.
Assess resource utilization (water, energy, chemicals) and identify areas of inefficiency.
Evaluate the existing quality control and defect management systems.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring RFT progress.
3.2 Implementation of RFT Methodology
Develop and execute a detailed RFT implementation plan.
Provide on-site and remote support for process optimization and troubleshooting as per requirement.
Introduce best practices to reduce reprocessing and ensure first-time quality achievement.
Collaborate with factory management and workers to adopt sustainable practices.
3.3 Training and Capacity Building
Design and conduct interactive training sessions for factory staff on RFT principles and practical applications.
Provide hands-on workshops and knowledge-sharing activities.
Develop training manuals and guidelines for continuous learning.
3.4 Monitoring and Evaluation
Establish a monitoring framework to track the progress of RFT implementation.
Conduct periodic evaluations to measure improvements in resource efficiency and quality.
Provide recommendations for further optimization.
3.5 Knowledge Management and Reporting
Document key findings, challenges, and success stories.
Develop case studies to share insights and promote knowledge dissemination.
Submit regular progress reports and a final project completion report.
4. Deliverables
The consultant or service provider is expected to deliver the following:
1. Inception Report:
Detailed work plan and timeline.
Methodology for baseline assessment and implementation.
2. Baseline Assessment Report:
Comprehensive analysis of current dyeing processes.
Identification of inefficiencies and potential areas for RFT application.
