About AJYS
Amar jyoti Yuvak Sangha (AJYS) is a registered Trust since 2014, dedicated to fostering qualitative human resource development through strategic interventions and multifaceted developmental initiatives. Our overarching goal is to facilitate integrated development through active community participation. We are proud to share our expertise gained from implementing impactful programs such as the School Hygiene Education Program in Karnataka and Goa, and the Harpic World Toilet College initiative in Odisha.
AJYS with support from Reckitt India, intends to implement the school hygiene education program in Odisha. This program will be introduced in primary and middle schools of selected district. The primary goal of the program is to eradicate diarrhoea, minimize school absenteeism, instill a culture of hygiene and stress the significance of handwashing. Additionally, it aims to foster behavioral change among school-going children. The DBSI-School Hygiene Education Program has achieved remarkable success, currently operational in over 12 states throughout India with a significant impact. Its distinctive curriculum incorporates Teacher’s Curriculum Manual, Student workbooks, interactive games, puzzles, and animated short videos, providing an effective and engaging means of delivering crucial messages to students.
Job Description of District Program Coordinator
• Supports project planning.
• Ensures that the tri-level modules are implemented in selected schools using the 5-Step Experiential Learning Method.
• Coordinate’s capacity building of implementing partners and provides on-going technical guidance.
• Represents AJYS/Reckitt in various committees at the district level.
• Regular field visit/school visit to initiate the activities
• Coordinates with local authorities, local institutions and schools
• Participates in donor visits or major stakeholder meetings.
• Reports qualitative and quantitative progress of the district in terms of project impact.
• Liaisoning and advocacy with District/ block Level stakeholders and partners
• Conducting project activities at schools & community level
• Capacity building and supportive supervision to school teachers in schools on WASH and Sanitation
• Any other work may be assigned by organization
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors/ Master Degree in Social Work / Rural Development/ Social Science and any others
• Minimum five years of experience on WASH, child rights and rural development.
• Ability and willingness for field travel
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, ethics and respect for clients at all times
• Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization
• Experience working with government and Schools
• Experience on Training and documentation
• Able to maintain confidentiality, medical ethics and respect for survivors at all times.
• Positive, highly motivated, innovative, with strong organizational and inter-personal skills.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Good knowledge of both written and spoken English. Fluency in Odiya is essential.
• Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations.
• Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
