Save the Children in partnership with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) have come together in a unique partnership to improve the nutritional status of mothers and children (0-5y) with particular emphasis on micronutrients (Fe, Vit A, Zinc) in peri-urban/urban areas of Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh
Be the focal person at project level for implementation of the project day-to-day activities as per the project strategic design
Supporting and monitoring ground staff on day-to-day planning and effective execution of the project activities.
Supportive monitoring and evaluation of staff and activities
Conduct weekly and monthly review meetings
Be the focal for the community awareness sessions, establishment of linkages and building capacities at slum/ward/field level focusing on Health, Nutrition and WASH
Map out existing Health, Nutrition and WASH related initiatives and advocacy with Government departments and PRIs
Raising awareness of the project amongst stakeholders including school children, parents, PRI members, duty bearers (Medical/Health Officers, Village Health Nurses, ANMs, ICDS officials, Anganwadi Workers), media etc.
Liaison with district administration for support and share lessons learnt during the process of execution of the project.
Organize and conduct trainings to the identified beneficiaries, Community Action Groups, Working Committees, Mahila Arogya Samitis, in coordination with Programme Coordinator
Form and strengthen community level committees/ groups related to WASH, H&N, etc.
Support Community Groups and Committees in developing Action plans /Operational plans based on the findings of baseline assessment and implementation of plans in collaboration with
Facilitate and conduct and analysis of baseline
Referral and tracking of the identified under nourished and/or anaemic children for NRC enrolment and for clinical treatment
Build and strengthen effective working relationships with relevant stake holders particularly with Departments of Health, WASH, WDCWD, School of Education and Nutrition for smooth execution of the project activities
Support SC in knowledge and skill gap assessment of frontline workers and project staff in early identification of anaemia and malnutrition and build their capacities accordingly
Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and ensure the plan flow
Maintaining field records. Support SC in data collection and collation and project M&E
Support Project coordinator for timely and quality project/donor reporting and organising donor visits
Ability to operate and promote cost-effective approaches to maximise resources for children
Support Programme Coordinator in building Save the Children?s profile as the leading advocate for the rights of the children in the target district.
Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures
Undertake additional responsibilities as and when assigned in the best interest of the children
Professional Qualifications & Experience:
Masters degree in Public Health, Community Health and Nutrition or any other degree in Social Sciences from a recognised university
3-5 years working knowledge/experience in functional areas of Health /WASH /Nutrition, child rights, collaborative work with government departments could be preferred.
Experience in NGO sector and/or urban projects
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Telugu
Strong communication and advocacy skills
Self-motivated & ability to work in a team
Should have good working skills in computer
Willingness to travel extensively in and around the target area
