This project titled 'Creating Education Opportunities for Children from the most marginalised Communities’ has been conceptualized to strengthen early years learning experiences of young children by having intervention in AWCs and schools in three states; Odisha, Delhi and Jharkhand. This project will focus on developing and showcasing effective ECCE models with support from Ferrari in the next two years. This project would look into four interlinked dimensions for promoting school readiness

skills in the transition of children from preschool to primary school. These dimensions are as follows; Ready Children, Ready Families, Ready School and Ready System. Anganwadi workers and early grade school teachers will be capacitated so they are able to build skills and understanding of young children and ensure their successful transition to a primary school environment. Through this project Save the Children will have direct intervention in a total of 200 Anganwadi Centres and 25 government schools in the two districts in Delhi. The project will implement with AWWs and early grade school teachers to ensure quality classroom transactions processes leading to improved school readiness skills of around 12000 children between the age group of 3+ and up to 8 years who are deprived of quality learning opportunities. The project intervention is based on evidence and is underpinned by a rigorous measurement of school readiness skills of children. We will work in partnership with parents, communities, and duty bearers to ensure impact at a large scale, sustainability and replicability. Advocacy askes would be taken forward through civil society networks; state level RtE Forums, National RtE Forum, SMCs, Mothers Groups and Children’s Groups. Nav Srishti is Implementing partner of Save the Children. 1) JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title - Project Coordinator Reporting to: Organization Head (PNGO)/Programme Officer, SCBR Location – North West Delhi (Rohini District) Number of Positions – 1 (One) Job Purpose: To implement, monitor and measure all project activities related to Creating Education Opportunities for Children from the most marginalised Communities’ with an emphasis on improving learning environment for children at Anganwadi level (AWL) and primary stages. Also act as advocacy representative for the project in the district to a broad range of external stakeholders including relevant government departments on issues related to quality early childhood and primary education. Work under strong thematic supervision of the Programme Coordinator-Education of Save the Children in order to maintain a consistent and coherent education strategy. Major responsibilities: * Focal person for implementation of all project activities on behalf of PNGO * Monitoring of Project Activities on a regular basis and ensure quality in implemnattion * Together with the Academics Support Fellow, co-ordinate all Academics, administrative, logistical arrangements for training and workshops. * Documentation of all the activities and send it to Programme Coordinator-SC Education * Event manage all workshops and meetings taking place in the region, including arranging venues and refreshments issuing invitations. * Undertake other tasks as necessary and agreed with the PNGO and Save the Children * Work with 3-8 years’ students for quality learning environment and Child centric education * Work with teachers and AWW on 25 schools and 100 AWCs for regular follow-up of the activities through academic coordinator * Setting of libraries, Pre-school equipment’s in school and AWC to create a reading environment in school * Support strengthening of a project strategy on improving learning environment for children in Primary level for SC BR’S, PNGO and SSA project and lead its implementation through academic Coordinators * Help to Programme Coordinator–Education, SC for timely and quality project/donor reporting, on education project * Build relationships with key government departments particularly education and social welfare for quality education. * Coordinate with district education and ICDS stakeholders (CDPOs, AW Supervisors, AW Workers and ADE) for cross-state knowledge sharing, learning and improvisation in projects * Ability to operate and promote cost-effective approaches to maximize resources for children * Undertake appropriate additional responsibilities as assign by the Progamme Coordinator SCBR * Timely submission of MIS related data assigned by SCBR and PNGO Professional Qualification & Experiences: Qualifications: Post-graduate in education or social science from a recognized university or college is essential. Weightage will be given to candidates with experiences related to ECCE, teacher education and research in education Experiences: * At least 4-6 years focused experiences in education theme with NGO or education resource agency in: * Work with children in ECCE & primary education * Proven experience of work in close coordination with government departments especially –Education * Pedagogy development with teacher education experience at elementary level Professional Competencies: * Knowledge about the key education issues of Delhi * Understanding of education policies and programmes * Good understanding of NGO and other actor’s involvement, understanding and capacities on education programming * Strong leadership skill to work with government and Academic Project Fellow * Ability to plan and think strategically * Ability to work in a team * Must be aware about RtE Act & ECCE policy * Good report writing skill in English (Case stories/Donor report) * Strong influencing and negotiation skills * Demonstration commitment to quality education * Excellent command over Hindi & English language * Willing to work in remote area * Willingness to travel extensively * Ensure compliance with PNGO & SC BR’s policies practices Personal Attributes: * Positive attitude and high energy * Maturity and emotional balance * Sense of humor * Adaptable, flexible, proactive and innovative * Ability to work with children and school * Ability to work long hours under pressure and respect tight deadlines * Willingness to abide by PNGO and SC BR’s Code of conduct and child protection policy * Salary : Up to Rs. 30000/- per month (Depends upon qualification and experience) 2) JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title - Academic Support Fellow Reporting to: Project Coordinator (PNGO) Location – North West Delhi (Rohini District) Number of Positions - 9 (Nine) Job Purpose: To implement monitor and measure all project programme activities related to Creating Education Opportunities for Children from the most marginalized Communities’ with an emphasis on improving learning environment for children at Anganwadi level (AWL) and primary stages. Also act as save the Children’s advocacy representative in the district to a broad range of external stakeholders including relevant government departments on issues related to quality early childhood and primary education. Work under strong thematic supervision of the Project Coordinator-PNGO in order to maintain a consistent and coherent education strategy. Major responsibilities: * S/he would be a focal person for implementation of all the activities at School and Anganwadi (AW) level * S/he would facilitate small and large academic activities in school and cluster level * S/he would maintain regular contact with Teachers, students, AWW, Supervisors and SMC members and Parents * S/he would undertake other tasks as necessary and agreed with the PNGO and Save the Children * S/he would work with 3-8 years’ children for quality learning environment and Child centric education * S/he would work with teachers and Anganwadi Workers of the assigned schools and Anganwadi Centres for regular follow-up of project activities. * S/he would strengthen the AW level activities child cabinet, morning assembly, reading corners and library of the assigned schools. * S/he would help and support the Project Coordinator for any assigned tasks as and whenever necessary. * S/he would build relationships with key government departments particularly education and social welfare activities for ensuring quality education. * S/he would undertake appropriate additional responsibilities as assigned by the project coordinator. * S/he would have regular contacts with SMC/Angawadi level monitoring committee/Mother’s committee members and facilitate their meetings at school and community level. * She would document periodic progress, case studies of best practices etc of her assigned area and share with the Project Coordinator of PNGO. * Timely collection and submission of all MIS related information and data to PC (PNGO) Professional Qualifications & Experiences: Qualifications: * Graduate or Intermediate (if have an experience of more than 5 years) in any discipline from a recognized university or college is essential. Weightage will be given to candidates with experiences related to teaching in education with children. Experiences: * Candidate having at least 2 -3 years’ experience of working with NGO/ School/ Community/AWCs at the grass root level can apply for the post Professional Competencies: * Must be aware about RtE Act * Should have motivation to work with schools and AWCs * Should have excellent command over Hindi and English ( Writing, Reading and Speaking) * Willing to work in remote area Personal Attributes: * Positive attitude and high energy * Maturity and emotional balance * Ability to learn and receive feedback * Salary : Up to Rs. 18000/- per month (Depends upon qualification and experience) Additional job responsibilities: The job duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
