Conceptually public is aware of the do?s and don?ts on the road. It is only strict implementation of Road Safety Bill that will clear the way to the chaos and lawlessness of today which is snatching away innumerable innocent human lives.
Under the circumstances the best practice that can be evolved is to make the public realize the important contribution they can make when they are a witness to a road accident. Today, despite efforts by the administration fruitful inputs are yet to be seen.
In a recent video captured by SAHAYTA TEAM in October 2015 in Sikar district where 4 of a family died in a road accident (VIDEO OF ?A VICTIMS PLIGHT?) the witness confesses that neither she nor the crowd had any knowledge of how a 22 year female and 2 year old child could have been saved.
The state of awareness regarding road safety is dismal all over India and Rajasthan in particular and more so regarding the immediate Post Accident Care of road traffic accident victim. The statistical graph of Road Traffic Accident (RTA) induced deaths is showing a steep upwards trend. The highways are more or less death traps with poor engineering, unsafe driving behaviour and also lack of care of accident victims. Just as in the western countries where the first responders from amongst the lay public very efficiently revive and resuscitate the Road Traffic Accident (RTA) victims, we aim to achieve the same level of proficiency from our general public or onlookers of an accident. We are empowering good Samaritans to come forward with ease to give help at the accident scenario as this will result in saving innumerable lives.
