Brief of Organization:

4S India (www.4sindia.org.in) was established in the year 2003 under the guidance of Shri Vijay Mahajan (Founder of BASIX and PRADAN) and emerging as a regional and national development organization aimed at the betterment of marginalized and vulnerable rural, semi-rural, and diversifying urban communities that depend on agro and non-farm based activities for their livelihood and progress. 4S India has been engaged with small & marginal women farmers to improve their agricultural productivity, increase their involvement in market-linked activities, food processing & related agri- value chain development works. In continuation to these works, 4S is going to develop women-led FPOs and looking for young and dynamic agri-business professionals who will work in close coordination with women farmers for their overall development. 4s Is working as a technical partner with Heifer International and wish to support all the FPOs formed under their project .

Name of the post: Health and Nutrition Expert, Agriculture Expert, Livestock expert, and Marketing expert-Agri products

Location:Immamganj & Bankey Bazar,Gaya

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Agriculture Expert(Post-1)

Responsibilities:

Program Development: Design, plan, and implement agriculture-focused programs and projects that align with the organization's mission and objectives.

Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance and support to farmers and community groups on sustainable agriculture practices, crop production, soil fertility management, water conservation, and pest and disease management.

Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and extension services to build the capacity of farmers and agricultural stakeholders in adopting and implementing improved farming techniques and technologies.

Crop Diversification: Promote crop diversification strategies to enhance resilience to climate variability, improve nutrition, and increase income generation opportunities for farmers.

Natural Resource Management: Advocate for and implement practices that promote soil conservation, watershed management, agroforestry, and other sustainable land management techniques to protect natural resources and ecosystem health.

Climate Smart Agriculture: Integrate climate-smart agriculture principles into program design and implementation, including the use of climate-resilient crop varieties, water-efficient irrigation systems, and climate-smart farming practices.

Market Access: Support farmers in accessing markets for their agricultural products, including value addition, market linkages, and market information services.

Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in agriculture research, innovation, and technology, and incorporate evidence-based approaches into program design and implementation.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and indicators to assess the impact and effectiveness of agriculture programs, and use findings to inform decision-making and program improvement.

Networking and Collaboration: Build and maintain partnerships with local communities, government agencies, research institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders to leverage resources, share knowledge, and foster collaboration towards common goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agricultural development, preferably in a rural development context.

Strong technical expertise in crop production, soil and water management, pest and disease control, and sustainable agriculture practices.

Experience designing and delivering training programs and extension services for farmers or agricultural stakeholders.

Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Proven project management skills, including planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring.

Fluency in Hindi and proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Commitment to the organization’s mission and values, with a passion for promoting sustainable agriculture and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and rural communities. 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Health & Nutrition Expert(Post-1)

Responsibilities:

Needs Assessment:

Conduct thorough assessments of health and nutrition needs within the community and block.

Analyse existing health data and collaborate with line departments to identify key areas for improvement.

Program Design and Implementation:

Develop evidence-based health and nutrition programs tailored to the specific needs of the community.

Collaborate closely with line departments to integrate health initiatives into existing programs.

Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.

Capacity Building:

Conduct training sessions for community members and line department staff on health and nutrition-related topics.

Strengthen the capacity of line department personnel to effectively implement health and nutrition interventions.

Collaboration with Line Departments:

Establish strong working relationships with block-level line departments, such as Health, Women and Child Development, and Rural Development.

Coordinate joint initiatives and ensure seamless integration of health and nutrition components into existing projects.

Community Engagement:

Facilitte community engagement initiatives to raise awareness about health and nutrition practices.

Empower community members to actively participate in health-related decision-making processes.

Data Management and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of health and nutrition program activities and outcomes.

Prepare regular reports detailing progress, challenges, and recommendations for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.

Proven experience in designing and implementing health and nutrition programs.

Strong understanding of community and block-level health systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.

Familiarity with government health and nutrition policies and programs.

Ability to conduct training sessions and build capacity at various levels. 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Livestock Expert(Post-1)

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Livestock Management: Provide expert guidance and support to farmers in all aspects of livestock management, including breeding, feeding, housing, and healthcare.

Training and Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training programs and workshops for farmers/cadres on best practices in animal husbandry, nutrition, disease prevention, and vaccination.

Livestock Health Monitoring: Implement strategies for monitoring and assessing the health and welfare of livestock, including disease surveillance, diagnosis, and treatment.

Breeding Programs: Design and oversee breeding programs to improve the genetic quality and productivity of livestock breeds, with a focus on local breeds suited to the region.

Nutrition Management: Advise farmers on optimal feeding practices, ration formulation, and nutritional supplementation to ensure the health and productivity of their livestock.

Environmental Management: Promote sustainable livestock management practices that minimize environmental impact, such as proper waste management and pasture rotation.

Market Access: Support farmers in accessing markets for their livestock products, including facilitating market linkages, value addition, and product certification.

Research and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest developments in livestock management, animal welfare, and agricultural technologies, and incorporate innovative approaches into program design and implementation.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Collect and analyze data on program outcomes and impacts, and use findings to continually improve program effectiveness and relevance.

Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with local stakeholders, government agencies, research institutions, and other NGOs to leverage resources, share knowledge, and coordinate efforts towards common goals.

Bachelor in V.Sc. or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Livestock Management, or a related field.

Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in livestock management, preferably in a rural development context.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Marketing Expert-Agri products(Post-1)

Key Responsibilities:

Market Research and Analysis:

Conduct market assessments and analyses to identify market opportunities, trends, and consumer preferences for agricultural products.

Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market dynamics to inform marketing strategies and decision-making.

Collect and analyze data on market demand, supply chains, distribution channels, and pricing structures.

Marketing Strategy Development:

Develop comprehensive marketing strategies and plans to promote agricultural products produced by smallholder farmers.

Define target market segments, positioning strategies, and value propositions for agricultural products.

Identify marketing channels and tactics to effectively reach target audiences and drive sales.

Brand Development and Management:

Create and manage the branding and positioning of agricultural products to differentiate them in the market.

Develop brand identities, logos, packaging designs, and marketing materials that resonate with target consumers.

Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all marketing channels and touchpoints.

Market Access and Distribution:

Identify and cultivate partnerships with retailers, distributors, wholesalers, and other market actors to expand market reach and distribution networks.

Develop and implement strategies to overcome barriers to market access for smallholder farmers, including logistical challenges and quality standards.

Facilitate linkages between farmers and market actors to streamline value chains and ensure fair and transparent trade practices.

Promotion and Communication:

Plan and execute promotional campaigns, events, and activities to raise awareness of agricultural products and stimulate demand.

Utilize a variety of marketing channels, including digital marketing, social media, print media, and community outreach, to reach target audiences.

Develop compelling marketing content, such as advertisements, brochures, videos, and website content, to engage consumers and drive sales.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in marketing, business administration, agriculture, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

At least 4 – 6 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the agriculture sector or related industries.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.

Deep understanding of agricultural markets, value chains, and consumer behaviour.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and trends.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented mindset.

Fluency in Hindi and English is highly desirable.

Good analytical skill, medium level computer knowledge (excel, PPT, word), presentation skill

Experience in community mobilization, Agriculture, Marketing, Farmer Producer Organization, Capacity Building & Training

Marketing skills, Business development skills.

Motivated to work under stiff timelines and targets; comfortable in rigorous field work.
