Location Chennekothapalli, Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh.

Background:

The Timbaktu Collective (Collective) is a grassroots non-profit organization initiated in 1990, that works towards the sustainable development of marginalized peoples across 347 villages in 14 mandals of the drought prone Ananthapuramu and Sri Sathya Sai districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Initiated in 1992, Chiguru Programme (“tender leaf”) is the Collective’s flagship programme to engage with children and youth. The initiative promotes child rights and youth engagement with a focus on happy childhoods, nurturing environments, life skills development, play, creative engagement, and better opportunities for children and youth.

The Chiguru Programme has two key components: The Mogga Project promotes experiential learning, collaboration, and leadership among children and youth through childrens clubs, and the community resource centres. Prakruthi Badi (Nature School) is an accredited residential primary school housed in the Timbaktu agro-forest habitat. It is a dedicated educational institution for children from underprivileged and challenging backgrounds.

Today, 3,000+ children in the project area are members of the village-level children’s clubs and the Nature school reaches out to a specific demographic, not covered by mainstream, day schools.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As Programme Coordinator - Chiguru, your responsibilities will involve the following:

• Planning, implementing, and coordinating programme activities with the field team aligning with its objectives.

• Overseeing the effective implementation of the projects (Nature School and Mogga).

• Engaging with the beneficiaries of the Chiguru programme by visiting and documenting field activities, meetings, and other pertinent gatherings.

• Documenting programme outcomes and impact; including preparing periodic reports.

• Contributing to research, monitoring, and evaluation of the programme.

• Coordinating with the programme team and engaging in monthly meetings for reviewing, planning, and ensuring the effective implementation of activities.

Eligibility criteria:

• Bachelors/ master’s degree in Education, Development, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 2 years of prior experience in alternative education, child rights or in any relevant field.

• Aptitude to live and work in a rural setting.

• Excellent computer skills including MS Office suite.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Remuneration:

The first three months of your employment will be considered a ‘probation period’. During the probationary period, candidates can expect to receive a monthly remuneration of INR 40,000. Following the completion of the probationary period, we offer a starting salary of 5.4 LPA, with the potential for revision based on your work experience, skills, and demonstrated talent.
