Job Title: PRANA Field Operations Officer - 2 positions spread over 4 districts of Punjab (Ludhiana, Malerkotla & Jalandhar, Kapurthala)

Roles and responsibilities:
The PRANA Field Operations Officer is accountable for the proper implementation and effectiveness of the project activities implemented in Punjab. They provide and are responsible for technical, program and operational support to PRANA field operations. They lead, supervise, and provide guidance to a local team in support of the PRANA field operations, conservation efforts, and builds strategic, scientific, and technical capacity in the field. They serve as the PRANA liaison to local Punjab-based stakeholders, including local government agencies, other conservation organizations, foundations, farmer associations, community-based organizations and other local stakeholders.
In coordination with the Operations Manager & Project Lead, they facilitate and build partnerships and relationships across various stakeholder groups in Punjab in support of PRANA and TNC. They work closely with the Field operations Manager, Agronomist, & MEL Manager; in identifying and resolving technical, policy and programmatic issues and to create enabling conditions for the project success. They identify and share innovations in Crop Residue Management (CRM) solutions and best practices enhancements that better address the project objectives and include the natural system needs and community support for conservation. They negotiate complex and innovative collaborations and agreements with local government agencies and other local stakeholders. They establish TNC as a major conservation partner with farmers and communities, specifically within Punjab.
Collaborates with the PRANA field team to manage field operations, develop strategies, and coordinate with key partners.
Acts as a bridge between project field implementation and the PRANA team in Mohali.
Establishes and manages partnerships with stakeholders in Punjab, identifying new opportunities related to zeroburn crop projects.
Supervises field staff, ensuring alignment with PRANA’s strategy and annual work plans.
Monitors quality control and provides guidance to field implementation partners.
Facilitates information flow between stakeholders/government offices, local communities, and farmers.
Produces operational and project performance reports, analyzing variances and recommending adjustments.
Establish and maintain performance standards within budget.
Provide input to the MEL Manager for quality control and monitoring of field activities.
Build and maintain a network of contacts relevant to PRANA implementation.
Support the PRANA Project Director and programmatic leads as needed.
Make independent decisions based on analysis and context.
Provide inputs on RFPs for grants and contracts.
Frequent local travel required to work some evening and weekend hours.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience in conservation practice / agriculture or related field.
Proficiency in coordination, managing complex or multiple projects, including finances.
Supervisory experience and negotiation skills.
Experience of apply science to guide and decision-making.
Experience of Influence in conservation policy and planning.
Knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s) and regions.
Clear communication skills via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
Person should be able to read, write and speak Punjabi.
Contract Duration and Position Type:
The position offers 1 year contract effective from the date of joining till 30th June 2025. The extension of this position shall be subject to the requirement, fund availability and mutual agreement. The travel and communication expenses shall be reimbursed based on actuals within the limit prescribed in the organisational policy (if applicable). This position shall be managed by third party.
