Job Summary:
The Medical Mobile Unit (MMU) Driver is responsible for safely operating the mobile medical vehicle, ensuring timely transportation of healthcare personnel, equipment, and medical supplies to designated locations. The driver will also support logistical and operational functions for effective mobile healthcare service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation & Maintenance:
• Drive the medical mobile unit to assigned locations as per the designated route plan.
• Ensure vehicle safety and compliance with traffic laws and organizational guidelines.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and routine maintenance, including checking fuel, oil, brakes, tires, and emergency kits.
• Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or breakdowns promptly and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic vehicle environment, ensuring proper storage of medical equipment and supplies.
Logistics & Support:
• Assist healthcare personnel in loading/unloading medical equipment and supplies.
• Ensure all necessary documentation (logbooks, fuel records, and maintenance logs) is maintained accurately.
• Support the setup of medical camps by helping with tents, registration desks, and crowd management if required.
• Coordinate with field staff to ensure smooth execution of outreach activities.
Safety & Compliance:
• Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols for transporting medical personnel and patients.
• Follow organizational guidelines for infection control and biohazard management.
• Ensure proper handling and transportation of medical waste following regulatory norms.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including transporting patients to healthcare facilities if needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Education: Minimum 10th or 12th pass + DL preferable additional certifications in defensive driving or first aid are a plus.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a professional driver, preferably in the healthcare or NGO sector. Experience in driving ambulances or large vehicles is preferred.
• License: Valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) or Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) license as per government norms.
• Skills & Attributes:
o Good knowledge of road safety regulations and routes in the designated operational area.
o Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams and local communities.
o Basic understanding of vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance.
o Physically fit and able to assist in loading/unloading of medical supplies.
o Punctual, responsible, and committed to social service.
Compensation & Benefits:
