IGSSS implements and supports quality development projects in 21 States and 1 Union Territory in India to empower individuals and communities and has been working different partners on various issues. Through its projects on Sustainable Livelihood, Disaster Risk Reduction, Gender Equality, Urban Poverty Reduction and Youth Development, IGSSS reaches to more than a Lakh family every year. IGSSS has touched lives of 1,12,10,873 families since its foundation. The Programmes at IGSSS are targeted towards the poor and marginalized sections of the society.

We are seeking application from candidates for one of our upcoming project in, Vishakapatnam, Telangana.

Job Title: Project Lead - Watershed Expert

Location: Anadapuram Block, Vishakapatnam District, Telangana, India

Position Number: 1

Role Overview: As the Project Lead - Watershed Expert, you will play a pivotal role in leading the establishment of integrated soil and watershed management in 20 villages of Anadapuram. Your responsibilities encompass providing technical guidance, overseeing project implementation, conducting assessments, capacity building, and managing resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Expertise:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of watershed conditions, including water budgeting and soil conservation measures such as land levelling, earth bunding, and check dams.

• Develop and implement watershed management plans, integrating stakeholder input and industry best practices to ensure sustainable land use and water resource management.

• Provide technical guidance to project staff and community leaders in conducting resource inventories, developing integrated soil and water management plans, and gaining plan approval and implementation.

• Lead capacity-building initiatives for Soil & Water Management Group members, PRI members, and Community Resource Persons (CRPs) on watershed identification, designing, and collaborative action for resource mobilization.

• Supervise community-level behaviour change campaigns on water budgeting, sustainable production, and biodiversity conservation, ensuring effective engagement and support at the grassroots level.

• Collaborate with government and non-governmental agencies to coordinate and implement integrated soil and water conservation activities, leveraging GIS technology for mapping and database development.

• Prepare detailed project reports, including DPRs and priority plan submissions, and provide monitoring support for works execution and timely completion.

2. Project Management:

• Implement and monitor livelihood and enterprise development programs within Anadapuram Block, ensuring adherence to programmatic goals and donor commitments.

• Conceptualize and develop innovative programs through secondary research and field evidence, aligning with the strategic mandate of program expansion.

• Prepare periodic reports according to organizational and donor requirements, documenting project processes and achievements through close collaboration with project managers.

• Ensure timely updates and adjustments in proposed action plans, working closely with implementation staff to maintain quality program outputs.

• Facilitate documentation and submission of field reports, ensuring accurate data management and reporting in line with program timelines.

• Monitor program progress, provide inputs for continuous improvement, and ensure strict adherence to organizational policies and guidelines.

3. Networking and Linkages:

• Build and nurture effective relationships with government agencies and likeminded organizations in operational areas, facilitating resource access and convergence of efforts.

• Establish linkages with non-governmental organizations through network formation, promoting information sharing and synergy to avoid duplication of work.

4. Finance and Resource Management:

• Prepare realistic budgets in collaboration with Finance, ensuring effective fund utilization and tracking budget trends for variance analysis.

• Engage in dialogue and cooperation with colleagues and partner staff to explore new resources and talents, enhancing the quality of program implementation.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or civil engineering with experience in watershed management.

• 7-10 years of experience in watershed management.

• Knowledge in agriculture and horticulture is encouraged.

• Proficiency in Telegu, Hindi, English, and local language.

• Strong understanding of watershed ecology, hydrology, and geomorphology.

• Expertise in project management and technical skills related to watershed activities.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing requirements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

Remuneration / Package / Benefits: Maximum limit up to 60000/- per month CTO based on experience and overall fit including PF as per law. In addition - range of benefits including medical insurance, personal accident insurance, and opportunities for further personal development.
