The head office of ASRA is in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh.

About the Role:

The Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) is a national program in India dedicated to the health and well-being of adolescents. RKSK aims to address the unique health needs of adolescents aged 10-19 years through a comprehensive approach that integrates health education, counselling, and service delivery. The program focuses on promoting healthy behaviours, preventing common health problems, and providing adolescent-friendly health services. RKSK emphasizes youth participation, gender equity, and community engagement to ensure the holistic development and empowerment of adolescents across the country.

The Counselor will play a vital role in providing counseling services to individuals in need within Dewas, Agar, Shajapur, Ratlam, Mandsaur and Neemuch . This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional who can offer support and guidance to clients facing various mental health and emotional challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' mental health, emotional well-being, and social circumstances to understand their needs and concerns.

Counseling Sessions: Provide individual, group, or family counseling sessions to address clients' psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues effectively.

Therapeutic Interventions: Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to help clients manage stress, overcome challenges, and develop coping strategies.

Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention during crisis situations such as suicidal ideation, self-harm, or trauma, ensuring clients' safety and well-being.

Psychoeducation: Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, coping skills, and healthy lifestyle practices to promote self-awareness and empowerment.

Collaboration: Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, social workers, educators, and community resources to provide comprehensive support and referrals for clients as needed.

Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines to protect clients' privacy and foster trust in the therapeutic relationship.

Documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of counseling sessions, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with professional standards and legal requirements.

Self-care: Prioritize self-care and engage in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development activities to maintain personal well-being and enhance counseling skills.

Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and access to mental health services, while also raising awareness and reducing stigma surrounding mental illness in the community.

Cultural Competence: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness to effectively work with clients from diverse backgrounds, respecting their values, beliefs, and cultural practices.

Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries and maintain professional boundaries in the therapeutic relationship to ensure ethical practice and client safety.

Evaluation: Monitor clients' progress and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling interventions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve positive outcomes.

Continuity of Care: Facilitate transitions between different levels of care and support clients in accessing ongoing mental health services to promote long-term well-being and recovery.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master's degree in public health, social work, or a related field.

• At least 1 of experience working in adolescent health programs, preferably in a public health or NGO setting.

• Strong project management skills, including budgeting, planning, and monitoring.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Knowledge of adolescent health policies and programs in India is desirable.
