1. Organizational Background:

MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child (MAMTA) is a non-government not-for-profit organisation registered under the Society Registration Act 1860 of the Government of India. MAMTA was established in 1990 with a humble intervention to enhance the health status of pregnant and lactating women and their new-born children in a resettlement colony of Delhi. In over thirty years the organisation has diversified its work under four thematic areas namely:

1. Reproductive Maternal New-born Child Health;

2. Adolescent and Young People’s Health and Empowerment

3. Communicable diseases

4. Non-communicable diseases

The organization has a strong team of over 1000 staff carrying out health and social interventions across 11 States at present. MAMTA’s head office is in New Delhi and regional offices are in Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna and Shimla. MAMTA’s works in the technical capacity and also as an implementing organisation, which provides immense opportunities to engage with communities and stakeholders, learn, enhance skills and deliver in a multi-disciplinary environment. MAMTA has a strong presence in Himachal Pradesh and has been running programs throughout the state in association with the State Government. Currently, MAMTA is planning to implement Care Companion Program (CCP) across Himachal Pradesh in association with the Govt. of HP and NHM-HP.

2. Job Description

The Sr. Program Manager is a middle level management position. The position will report to the State Lead (Himachal Pradesh). As a Senior Program Manager you will be responsible for managing programs across state, leading trainings, participate in training preparation, deliver training in Himachal Pradesh, prepare reports and presentations and assist the State Lead as per requirement. You will carry out field visits, help the implementation teams of various projects start the and conduct supportive supervision activities for multiple projects. You will be working alongside the State Lead HP in Shimla with around 50% travel to various project sites.

LOCATION: Himachal Pradesh (preferably a resident of HP state)

3. Skills Required:

• Good communication and writing skills

• Knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching techniques

• Basic computer skills

• Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Skills necessary to support various public health projects

4. Roles and Responsibilities:

• Review ongoing interventions and support team in the implementation process

• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time

• Support project staffs in developing documents, publications and evidence materials

• Making attractive PowerPoint presentation and delivering training

• Quality improvement through handholding and booster trainings

• Motivating and engaging the project teams and other stakeholders

• Writing reports on a bi-weekly, monthly basis (as per requirement)

• Coordinate with district, state and location specific stakeholders (government and support agencies) to facilitate learning and replication of the intervention

• Support Team lead in implementation and operationalization

• Provide support to team leader in developing concept and documents and be contributing writer where appropriate

• Performing other duties as assigned towards meeting the vision and mission of the organisation

5. Qualifications:

• Bachelor degrees- Medical Sciences / Nursing / Public Health

• Master degrees- Nursing / Public Health / Social Sciences and Development Studies

• Must be fluent to read/write/speak in English & Hindi & knowledge of HP state local language will be an added advantage

6. Expectations:

• Minimum experience of 3-5 years is required

• Ability to fit in and be a team player with excellent communication skills

• You should be able to problem solve independently at the ground level.

• Diplomacy, humility, confidence are all important traits

• Ability to innovate to handle challenges and to improve upon training efficiencies

• You will be expected to work in the urban and rural health facilities. Both environments are crucial in our ability to scale, and we need you to possess the graces required to adapt.

• Willing to travel to remote places within the state when required

• Ability to work with state implementation teams and support them in their training needs
