Precision Development (PxD) with support from WBADMIP (West Bengal Accelerated Development of Micro Irrigation Project) is working on scaling up adoption of flood tolerant rice seed varieties (Swarna Sub 1) in 5 districts. To monitor procurement and distribution of seeds, PxD is looking to hire a field coordinator who will coordinate WBADMIP officials to facilitate the same

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Field work: Conducting and managing the implementation of a variety of field activities:

Monitor procurement of flood tolerant seeds

Monitor distribution of flood tolerant seeds

Training extension officers on distribution practices

Handling all field planning logistics

2. Liaise with the Program Team: Work as a bridge between the field team and central office regarding projects in developing and implementing field strategy

3. Liaise with the Research Team: Support research team to conduct surveys, and preparation of survey questionnaires and translations along with regular communications with the research team to provide updates.

4. Liaise with the government and other local partners: Acting as government and partner liaison to coordinate with local government officers at the district, block and panchayat levels, and other partners (eg: NGOs) including but not limited to arranging field activities and scheduling meetings with local point of contact.

5. Capacity building: Conduct capacity building measures for external stakeholders such as farmers and government extension workers.

6. Work with the local community: Coordinate fieldwork with local farmer representatives/community members.

7. Documentation and reporting:

Prepare activity progress reports

Provide feedback and take immediate notice of and resolve any problems arising in the field.

Qualifications and Skills

The field coordinator is expected to have the following qualification and skills:

2+ years of experience in Agriculture Extension/ Field Implementation or similar profile

Experience in conducting qualitative surveys and focus group discussions over phone and in-person (preferred)

Experience in working with the government and various external stakeholders. Also experience in managing and training field staff

Experience of leading or working with ICT-enabled agricultural extension systems

Familiarity with MS office, and basic knowledge of computers and software

Strong communications, written and presentation skills

Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in Bangla is Mandatory

Experience in managing group events would be preferred but not mandatory
