Location: REMOTE WORKING (Delhi location of candidate preferred but is not a must).

Background

The Accounting Associate (Consultant), reporting to the Manager of Accounting will provide comprehensive accounting support and will support a small portfolio of clients for Global Finance Strategies, a financial consulting subsidiary of Global Health Strategies. 

Specific role and responsibilities

Accounts Receivable/Payable – responsible for processing accounts receivable/payable, including but not limited to: preparing invoices, reviewing timesheets of all staff as a basis for invoicing, ensuring appropriate authorizations and documentation, ensuring prompt payments to vendors, consultants and staff; posting expenses and disbursing petty cash; reviewing, allocating and posting monthly credit card expenses transactions and ensuring the integrity of cost allocations with the budget. 

General Ledger Management – managing data entry of all financial transactions, including Account Payable/Account Receivable and general ledger activities. Ensure that allocations to projects and grants are appropriately made and in line with budget. 

Payroll & Expense Reporting – collecting and reviewing timesheets as well as expense reports from staff and consultants. Preparing MIS using various ERP timesheet reports in consultation with supervisor for level of effort tracking (Budget vs Actual). Working closely with the Manager to facilitate bi-weekly payroll administration and entry into the general ledger. 

Grants Management and Accounting – responsible for managing all grant accounting and allocations. Managing grant budgets along with program managers to ensure appropriate spending down of grant. Supporting all grant financial reporting in partnership with the Director. 

Financial analysis- supporting the accounting team in preparation of financial analytics including annual budget, cash flow analysis, budget versus actual, project profitability, etc. 

Month & Year End Close – supporting the monthly and year end closing process including coordinating time activity reporting, preparing allocations and bank reconciliations, and preparing customized reporting for senior staff (budget vs actual, variance & quarterly/year end reporting). 

Finance & Operations Administrative Support – providing overall support to the Finance & Operations Team managing electronic and paper files, updating, and maintaining the general database of contacts and participating in other administrative tasks as needed.           

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Candidate could be from any industry.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to report on complex data in an easily understandable manner. -MANDATORY

Proficient with MS Office, with advanced level of Excel skills, including pivot tables, vlookup, formatting etc. MANDATORY

This position will work remotely and support the US Accounting team. The candidate is required to work on US shift timings (2p.m to 11p.m).

3 -7 years of experience in an accounting position; nonprofit experience preferred.

Strong knowledge and experience in General Ledger transaction posting.

Proficient with revenue and cash reconciliation and financial/variance analysis.

Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously / outstanding time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and to independently identify areas in need of additional attention.

Thorough and highly organized while managing large volume of documents.
