Field Organizer – Andhra Pradesh

Location: Kuppam in Chittor District, Andhra Pradesh

Job Status: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Field organizer, based in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh will conduct outreach to and work with garment workers on labour rights to improve their working and living conditions

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct outreach to garment workers in their villages and factory premises
Build relations with garment workers in Kuppam and close by villages
Support garment workers in addressing workplace issues and labour rights violations
Organise and mobilize garment workers for trainings and meetings
Assist in primary data collection for research purposes
Travel as required to Bangalore, Chennai to meet partner organisations

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in the areas relevant to social sector, such as social work, sociology, labour laws or political science.
Minimum one year of work experience with civil society organisations, trade unions or grassroots movements
Experience in field organizing and partnership building
Knowledge of garment industry, labour rights/human rights is an advantage
Proficient in the local language – Telugu – addition to knowing basic English. Knowledge of Kannada is an advantage
Comfortable in digital communications
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
