The initiative:

Prayatn Sanstha is working with the community on different dimensions of social issues like health, education, child labour, malnutrition etc. through an integrated development approach. The integrated development initiative has interventions related to Education, Health and Hygiene, Water and Sanitation and farm and non farm-based livelihood development.

The project is being executed with marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha. Through this initiative the organisation is trying to develop models of community owned and managed development processes. In all its initiatives the organization is closely working with the community, organize them, form their institutions and prepare them to address issues at their own level through community-based systems and mechanisms.

Positions Overview:

This is a field-based position wherein the Assistant Project Officer / Thematic Expert/s will be working closely under the guidance of the Project Officer with the support of the Community Mobilizers. The position of Assistant Project Officer / Thematic Expert/s will be responsible for execution of the social development activities like formation and strengthening of the community based institutions, execution of activities related to health, education and livelihood development planned in the project. The position requires intense field visits to monitor and support the field activities with the involvement of the team members and provide necessary support in execution of the project activities.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate implementation of social development activities at field level with the involvement of the community.
• Facilitate implementation of Livelihood Development activities at field level with the involvement of the local community.
• Providing hand holding support to the project team especially community mobilisers in community mobilization processes;
• Support and guide the community institutions formation and strengthening processes;
• Conceptualizing capacity building programs on various aspects of sustainability for community institutions.
• Collating information and inputs from grass root level and incorporating them in the organizational plans.
• Monitoring the progress of the activities
• Progress reporting, Review meetings, preparing thematic reports.
• Identify learning opportunities and document them;
• Coordinate within the team and with other institutions working on similar issues;
• Identify training needs of the project team members as well as of the partner community;
• Provide onsite support to the team members during the implementation;
• Development of learning programs for the team working at the field level;

Requirement:

Candidate should have a Master’s degree in Social Work or Social Science or similar education from any reputed institution / University. The candidate should have minimum 5 years of work experience on Social Development issues with special focus on Education, Health and Child Rights. The candidate should have experience of taking issues for necessary convergence at various levels by working on and with children, communities, civil Societies and government departments.

• Hands on experience of community mobilization, capacity Building and Program Implementation
• Should be a good and quick learner
• Should be willing to travel extensively within and outside the project area
• Should be willing to be posted at a block level / sub-block level place

Nature of Employment:

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to get associated with the organization for a period of two years, which may be extended depending on the satisfactory level of performance and subject to availability of resources and continuity of the projects.
Remuneration Offered:
As per organizational norms.
Location: Odisha (Puri and Rayagada), Uttar Pradesh (Varanasi) and Rajasthan (Dholpur)
