Job Description
Agrasar is an NGO with a mission to enable equitable access to safe and enriching education for children, facilitating gainful and progressive employment for "migrant workers", and basic rights and entitlements for their families. Agrasar is in the process of forming worker collectives in Gurugram that would be able to demand for better work conditions from the emlpoyers and social security from the Government.
The organisation is looking for a Coordinator who is willing to take up the leadership in forming the collectives of women, their capacity building and anchoring the negotiation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Motivating the workers (mainly women doing home based work in garment manufacturing industry) to join the collective by explaining the benefits.
- Regular field visits for keeping the workers engaged.
- Finding issues to be taken up with the contractors, employers or the government departments. Liasoning with the officials.
- Leading the conversations of collectives with the officials in the beginning stages. Later, capacity building of leaders among the collectives is to be done so that they are self-dependent.
- Organising various kind of community events.
- Writing Quarterly and other reports.
Qualifications
Atleast a graduate degree with minimum two years of field level experience. Masters in Social Work or related subjects shall be given preference.
