Job Description

Position: Coordinator-Sarthi ( ISCs After Care program) , India Sponsorship Committee
 
Location: Mumbai or Pune, Maharashtra (Regular travel to Pune and Lonavala) Nature: Full time
 
Job Summary:
 
Reporting to the Head Office; the After Care Coordinator will be the primary connection to all children that are eligible and require after care support for further education and professional pursuits. The purpose is to build healthy and positive relationships to ensure their socio-emotional well being and safety and security in mainstream society along with fitment and alignment to their educational pursuits and skills to their careers.
 
Primary Objective:
  • To provide mentorship to all children and youths under After Care program
  • To create a college-going and career readiness culture;
  • To establish connections and networks to leverage relationships with local ecosystem, institutions to extend support for children and youth
  • To ensure that ISC students have the  means, opportunity, preparation, to succeed in post-secondary education, ranging from two or four year colleges, apprenticeships, certification programs, military, etc. to be successful in the workplace.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students in Academic, Career and Social/Emotional domains to build knowledge, skills and habits in post-secondary planning.
  • Possess strong leadership and collaborative skills, problem solving ability and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience advocating for and motivating ALL students (especially low income and underrepresented youth) to succeed in post-secondary environments.
  • Experience guiding students towards paths that fit their strengths and attributes.
  • Skilled at fostering students’ self-exploration of interests, abilities, values and goals.
  • Ability to use and experience with software and various research methods to help students in decision making for college choices and career planning.
  • Working knowledge of different curriculums, instruction and methodologies that align itself to post academic pursuits
  • Ability to produce, analyze and summarize data and put together reporting based on established monitoring and evaluation criteria
  • Ability to interpret laws, schemes and regulations; its aligned policy and procedures for optimal utilization by the children..
  • Ability to evaluate the program and the practices for continuous improvement and to develop short and long term plans.
  • Knowledge of college and career readiness and preparation, designing of interventions and individual livelihood plans
  • Training and experience in career development models, research, and best practices as per market needs and trends especially in India. ABility to forecast and align the required skills and training to securing livelihoods in a stable and successful manner
  • Training and experience in advising students and families on career pathways, internships, graduation/college admissions requirements, entrance exams, college options (to include all post-secondary education programs), military options, financial aid, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, families, and the team
  • Core areas of activity will include careers and market research, work-based learning experiences, career decision making, application of academic skills, technologies, in future work, entrepreneurship, personal financial literacy and management, development of employability skills.
  • Identify the skills and aptitude of the children placed in Antar Bharti Balgram, Antar Bharti Balgram School and Bal SAKSHAM beneficiaries in Pune through appropriate mechanisms and in consultation with the CWO,, Counsellor and Program Heads
  • Identify and develop linkages with all such agencies that offer vocational and training services with job placement at the end of the course.
  • Facilitate and coordinate with agencies, individuals, corporate, recognized non-governmental organizations and other funding agencies to set up vocational training units / workshops in Child Care Institutions as per age, aptitude, interest and ability.
  • Mobilize voluntary vocational instructors who render services to carry out the training sessions in the Lonavala, Mumbai and Pune
  • Prepare individual career plans keeping in mind the personality traits of the child, including assessment of interests and skills
  • Make efforts to ensure effective placement of each eligible and trained child.
  • Organize workshops on Careers and Skills under Central and State Government Schemes, spread awareness and facilitate access to such schemes and services.
  • Organize workshops on personality development, life skill development, coping skills and stress management and other soft skills to encourage the child to become a productive and responsible citizen.
  • Conduct regular visits to the institutions and locations where the children are placed to monitor their progress and provide any other assistance as may be required.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in social work, child development, management and youth
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MIS and data management
  • Dynamic and willing to build and enhance the after care program at the organization
  • 3-5 years related work experience
