In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers and others.
Jhpiego is hiring for the position of “Consultant- Gender”, at New Delhi, to develop comprehensive and impactful training resources on gender. She/he/they will be responsible for the overall development of LRPs (Learning resource packages) for the health workforce at the HWCs and will report to the Advisor- Communications and Knowledge Management- NISHTHA Jhpiego.
Period of Consultancy: 3 months
Responsibilities:
• Identify the knowledge gaps and determine the content for the training curriculum for the health workforce at the HWCs
• Create comprehensive, up-to-date, and engaging training materials on gender, that are adaptable and relevant to CPHC program at the HWCs
• Create resources with established linkages and applicability of gender for CPHC program personnel at the HWC level
• Ensure that the learning materials are tailored to different learning styles and incorporate interactive activities, case studies, multimedia resources, etc
• Ensure learning materials reflect intersectionality while representing public health through a gender lens
• Collaborate with key stakeholders and subject matter experts within the organization to gather input, feedback, and insights to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of the LRPs
• Develop evaluation mechanisms and feedback systems to assess the effectiveness and impact of the LRPs
• Support the organization in validating the LRPs through the field settings and through expert opinions
• Develop materials to train the health workforce based on the learning packages created
• Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) within the organization
Abilities/Skills:
• Must have a gender and equity lens toward public health
• Ability to respond positively to feedback
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey sensitive and complex information
• Ability to translate complex concepts into clear and engaging training content.
• Experience working with diverse audiences and cultural contexts, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and inclusivity
• Commitment to promoting gender equality, diversity, and inclusion
Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience:
• Post-graduation in a related subject of Social Sciences or Public Health
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of gender issues, intersectionality, gender-based violence, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and related areas
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the development sector in India
• Proven experience in developing training materials, curriculum design, and adult learning principles, with a focus on gender
• Familiarity with global gender equality frameworks, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and local gender-related legislations
• Publications reflecting gender and its implication on health in peer review journals
• Demonstrated professional experience in evaluating gender as a social determinant of health
• Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
