Education

• MSW, MA Socio, other PG diploma related to Social issues management

• The experience (if any) should include working with urban slum dwellers.

• Willingness to work & travel within the community.

• Strong social concern

Function and activities

Team supervision

• Manages a team of 2-4 social workers

• Logistic of the branch: stationary, premises renting

Team continuous training on field

• FDP methodology

• Knowledge of the local institutions and actors involved in the social and economic field

• Technics of personal assistance, active listening and mediation

• Ability to foster the expression of demand by the beneficiary families

• Gives regular feedback on field

• Evaluates the SW

• Identifies the need for additional training

Promotion and need assessment

• Organises the mapping of the targeted slums and assigns social workers to precise areas

• Plans and organises corner meetings to deliver to the community a brief and concise speech about FDP, to inform when individual surveys are to be conducted and to invite people to the guidance center for interviews.

• Organises the regular door-to-door visits in order to gradually survey all the households of the area and allow all the needy families to be enrolled in FDP.

• Organises selection meetings: Helps the SW review their family files and the different tools (poverty and need assessment) and helps identify and select for FDP the poor and needy families.

Regular visits and family support

• Follows families directly (about 20 vs 30-35 for SW) at the beginning

• Does weekly home visits along with each SW: Support, observation, feedback

• Helps the families express and prioritize their needs by using active listening methods

• Helps the families acknowledge their efforts and achievements to increase their self-efficacy and motivation

• Helps the family take action to solve these problems

• Organises awareness meetings on specific issues that are worth to be shared collectively (emulation through experience shares). Some meetings will require external resource person.

Connection with services - networking

• Contacts the surroundings agencies that can be of help for families and keeps up to date the information on their services

• Facilitates the referrals of the families to those agencies

• Keeps up-to-date with local social regulations and services

• Organise stakeholders meeting to coordinate with the other services

• Identify and collaborate with resource persons to help developing awareness in the community

Documentation and evaluation

• Creates and updates a folder containing the forms and procedures of the useful services

• Verifies daily the Guidance center register and the Home visits register

• the planning of the SW based on the families’ availability and the other possible local constraints

• Verifies every case file each month and read the recordings of the SW to supervise the follow up

• Organises the regular evaluation to measure the progress of the family and the impact of the program, until 6 months after the end of the intervention (family resilience, poverty assessment tool)

• Facilitates the presentation of family cases to be discussed during review meetings

• Facilitates the writing of cases stories

• Ensures monthly report to the coordinator

Work conditions

• Everyday presence on field in difficult conditions: slum, dust, heat, walking

• Portfolio of 15-20 families (One visit per family per week) + home visits with SW

• Working hours: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
