Roles:
PRADAN is promoting agriculture with women farmers for the past 35 years. Working on the agriculture theme, we realized that the small & marginal farmers alone will not be able to negotiate with the big market force & influence them in their favour and thus they need to be collectivized into an economic collective for better access to market services. The post require the person responsible for providing thematic orientations, trainings, skill counselling, technical knowhow to the Lead Entrepreneurs, VRPs and the PGs
Input availability at the PGs door eg Fertilizer, Pesticide
Intercultural services to be done through mechanization support
Output marketing support
Advertisement of the marketing commodities
Marketing of Value-addition products of millets
Development of value -added products
Products:
Cereals, Millets, Value added products of millet, Pulses, Oilseeds, and Vegetables
Responsibilities:
Following are the responsibilities for the given positions:
Leading the theme marketing for PRADAN areas
Responsible for input-output marketing of 4 districts initially.
Prepare marketing SOP for the farmers which will include different marketing strategies
Orient teams on the SOP of marketing.
Develop quality standards for marketing
Develop MIS system
Develop Indicators to map progress under marketing
Identification of crops as per market demands. This will include crop identification as per smallholder suitability, agroecological compatibility, and market attractiveness.
Linking farmers with national level-State level reputed Input provider eg Seed, Fertilizer. Mechanization and Pesticide companies
Output marketing of produce -This will cover raw produce as well as processed product to various regional markets
Help PGs/entrepreneurs in setting up processing infrastructure for processing of produce to catch better prices for its farmer member.
Value addition, Product development, market development, Branding & export are higher-order interventions that are part of the responsibility
Shall bring in human, capital, knowledge, and financial resources for the farmers from individuals, state, donors, and private collaborations.
Identify and tag farmers with government schemes and programs eg SFURTI under MSME and MSP.
Provide reports to internal and external donors as and when required.
Education Qualification & Work Experience
A bachelor's/Master’s degree in agricultural business, agribusiness management, marketing, business administration, or a related field is often required.
IRMA/ABM will be preferred
More than 2 years of work experience in agriculture marketing fields
Candidate will be preferred if they have working experience in the states of central belt of India
Requirement:
The above responsibilities shall require:
Regular interaction with Markets, Government & Private donors,
Market visit and linkages
Reporting/Attending meetings at a notice of shorter interval
Desired Characteristics
Marketing is a challenging task that requires engagement during off-hours and on off days too. Dealing with the market also requires a very different type of attitude and skillsets like Proactiveness, Engaging with different stakeholders, good communication and presentation skill, marketing skills, high negotiation skill, perseverance, acting in a short period, Chasing & high extension towards colleagues.
