Samaj Pragati Sahayog (SPS) is headquartered in a drought-prone, tribal area of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of India's largest non-government initiatives for water, livelihoods, and women’s empowerment. SPS believes that to address India’s long-standing problems, we must graduate to an alternative development model based on the principles of equity, sustainability, and people’s empowerment.

As a part of our country’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, One indicator is to ensure that the newborn death rate is less than 10 per 1000 births per year. With the support of the Indian council of Medical Research, 10 districts where death rates among newborns have been worryingly high have pledged to work to achieve this goal in 3 years, starting Jan 2024. Khargone in southwestern Madhya Pradesh is one such district where the SANKALP Implementation Research (IR) project is being done by Samaj Pragati Sahayog, Dewas-Khargone in association with AIIMS new Delhi and the Government Medical College, Chandigarh and Jhpeigo, India. We are looking for passionate public health practitioners and researchers to join us in this IR project for 2.5 years, starting March 15, 2024.

Field Coordinator

Khargone, Madhya Pradesh

Responsibilities:

• Monitor 100% of Village Health and Nutrition Days (VHND) sessions within one quarter.

• Facilitate monthly coordination meetings between Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM).

• Conduct field visits to 80% of pregnant women (PW) and their families identified for the possibility of home delivery by ANM for counseling.

• Organize one group awareness activity every month.

• Support ASHA and ANM in recording and reporting under the Antenatal Delivery Management System (ADMSA).

• Provide care navigation for 80% of high-risk pregnant (HRP) identified women.

• Conduct follow-up visits with all home delivery women to ensure timely use of ADMSA within 24 hours of delivery information.

• Actively participate in baseline assessments of selected facilities.

• Assist in providing refresher trainings and capacity building activities.

• Conduct day-to-day visits to identified centers, ensuring records are updated and uploaded in designated portals/formats.

• Report project activities through onsite visits, prepare reports, and maintain adequate documentation.

• Devote 70% of time to work-related travel.

• Prepare program activity reports regularly.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Abilities/Skills:

• Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and coworkers.

• Technical proficiency in tasks assigned.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines.

• Willingness and flexibility to undertake various tasks.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Ability to travel extensively as required.

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in communication or related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

• Proficiency in Windows-based software products and database systems.

• Strong multitasking abilities.

• Ability to work independently and under pressure.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
