Convergent has been recently awarded the Learning Hub project by USAID India. USAID/India’s Learning Hub project has comprehensive goals aimed at improving knowledge acquisition and learning within and across its health programs. The project seeks to support USAID and their partners to enhance data analysis and documentation, increase program efficiency, and strengthen decision-making processes using data-driven insights. To achieve these goals, the project team shall organize and streamline the collation, management and analysis of data from implementing partners and other disparate sources. The project will effectively package insights, foster learning through collaboration and dissemination of the findings, successes, and knowledge gained from its health programs to a wide audience. The Learning Hub will also build the capacity of key Indian research organizations and individuals to expand and institutionalize local measurement and data analysis capabilities in the health sector, aligning with USAID’s commitment to localization.

Job Description

Convergent is seeking to recruit a Data Scientist with a strong background in statistics, extensive experience in the health sector, and expertise in text analysis and data scraping/word scraping tools. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in Statistics, coupled with a proven track record of leveraging advanced statistical methodologies and natural language processing techniques to extract valuable insights from textual data in the healthcare domain.

Responsibilities

Utilize advanced statistical techniques to analyze complex healthcare data sets and extract actionable insights.

Develop predictive models and algorithms to support decision-making processes in healthcare operations, patient care, and outcomes analysis.

Employ text analysis techniques to derive insights from unstructured healthcare data such as clinical notes, patient records, and medical literature.

Design and implement data scraping scraping tools to gather relevant information from various sources, including websites, databases, and documents.

Clean, preprocess, and manipulate textual data to ensure accuracy and consistency for analysis and modeling.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven solutions to healthcare challenges and drive innovation.

Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reports, visualizations, and presentations.

Stay updated with the latest developments in data science, natural language processing, and healthcare regulations to inform decision-making processes. 

Qualifications

Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data analysis, manipulation, and modeling.

Extensive experience with text analysis techniques, including natural language processing (NLP), sentiment analysis, and topic modeling.

Hands-on experience with data scraping scraping tools.

Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies, including regression analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Experience

Minimum of 4-5 years of experience working as a data scientist, with a focus on the healthcare sector.

Nature of the work

Largely desk-based work. Restricted Work-From-Home facility due to data confidentiality reasons.
