For Director, CEHAT
The Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT) Mumbai, engaged in social and public health research and policy advocacy is looking for a Director to lead the institution, and manage its activities.
CEHAT (www.cehat.org) established in 1994, is a research centre of Anusandhan Trust (www.anusandhantrust.org) that undertakes research on health and related themes; provides education and training; initiates intervention and participates in advocacy efforts on relevant issues.
CEHAT, located in Mumbai, is engaged in several projects covering research on health systems and services, access of survivors of gender-based violence to healthcare, health finance, gender and medical education, ethics and health and human rights.
Minimum Requirements:
A Post graduate /Ph.D degree in recognised disciplines of Social science/ Public health/ Medicine. A doctoral degree from a related profession will also be considered.
Should possess 15 years of relevant research experience with publications in peer reviewed journals. Should have proven competency, financial and managerial experience, as well as governance expertise of a minimum of 6 out of the 15 years.
Experience in working on quantitative and qualitative datasets is desirable.
Since education and training are part of CEHAT’s core activities, experience in teaching and capacity-building of health professionals is desirable. An ability to manage advocacy campaigns would be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities:
Provide mentorship and nurture CEHAT staff by providing strategic oversight to CEHAT programmes
Lead and manage the institution in the current fields and develop new areas of research, advocacy and interventions allied to the overall CEHAT vision
Foster partnerships with civil society organisations for enhancing organisational development, learning and create relevant research agenda for CEHAT.
Ally with Funding partners, research institutions as well as government departments to enhance CEHAT’s visibility at local, national and global fora.
Raise funds and create viable financial plans for the implementation of projects to ensure sustainability of the organisation.
Develop and fulfil institutional objectives such as fostering a conducive environment through a consultative process with colleagues at CEHAT.
Uphold mission and core values of AT which include engaging in social movements.
Work in partnership with the Board of Trustees, Scientific and Ethics Committees – statutory Bodies created to support activities of the centre
Enhance organisational governance through regular engagement with the Managing Trustee and the secretariat
Salary is commensurate with qualification and experience. The salary includes social security benefits. This is a term-bound position for a period of three years extendable up to six years at the discretion of the Trust.
Please note that the selected individual will maximally work from the Mumbai office of CEHAT. This position requires considerable outstation planned travel.
