Case Worker

Key Responsibilites:

1. Management:

• Playing the role of a Support person in the life of Survivor

• Accompany the Multi-Disciplinary Unit team in assisting the system to conduct the rescue operations

• Playing an active role in the Post Rescue procedures

• Working in the shelter home as part of the rehabilitation team.

• Document case studies as well as formal case work reporting to assist in the process of rehabilitation and reintegration of the survivors.

2. Case Work:

• Provides assistance to survivors through methods such as identifying and discussing problems;

• Developing a flexible plan of action along with the survivor to ensure basic needs are met including safe space, meals, health, treatment, legal and financial needs while encouraging self-sufficiency as much as possible once the survivor is reintegrated back into society.

• Monitors the survivors' progress toward the resolution of problems through methods such as motivating and facilitating participation in programs.

• Assists survivors in interacting with various external communities/governments- CWCs and law enforcement agencies.

• Completes and maintains case-related manuals, computerized records, and documentation.

• Taking notes and statements of the victims, maintaining the report, and sending it to MDU on a timely basis.

• Maintain detailed reports of Aftercare work and activities.

• Maintain communication with the supervisors for Aftercare work updates and any challenges.

• Coordination skills: the ability to make responsible arrangements for survivors through other agencies by means of organized communication.

• Seeing the good in people and understanding there is a reason for the behavior and not being very judgemental towards survivors, internal and external stakeholders.

• Good active listener

• Empathy: the ability to put oneself in another’s shoes

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

• Ability to organize and prioritize work

• Ability to observe and recognize changes in survivors

• Ability to establish and maintain rapport while maintaining boundaries with survivors

• Case management skills

• Ability to provide support and cooperation to the internal and external staff.

• Suitability to work with disadvantaged and challenging groups of people- trafficked survivors in a diverse environment.

• Conflict Resolution and Crisis Intervention Skills

• Advocacy Skills

• Ability to deal with others effectively

3. Documentation:

• Completes and maintains case-related manuals, computerized records, and documentation.

• Caseworkers should take reasonable steps to ensure that documentation in records is accurate and reflects the services provided to Survivors

• Clear and precise report writing

• Statement Recordings

• Maintain all the case records and document the survivors' journey

4. Program:

• Fully understand victim protection, custody law, and procedures.

• Provide direct assistance to victims in cases in which aftercare services are unable or unwilling to be provided by the stakeholders.

• Provide backstop psychosocial counseling to the rescued victims.

• Ensure that the victim receives full support and protection which is legally mandated.

• Monitor the progress of the victims where the services are provided.

• Monitor the activities and services provided in the government and private shelter homes.

5. Miscellaneous:

• Carry out additional responsibilities and assignments by the Supervisors.

• Maintain confidentiality of the organizational information.

6. Desired Skills & Experience

• Educational qualification in MSW/Masters in Sociology/ Master in Social Sciences and Similar discipline from reputed colleges

• 1 to 3 years of experience working closely with women and children

• Hands-on experience with Individual care plans for each victim and report making

• Positive attitude and good team spirit

• Excellent communication skills

7. Languages known:

English, and Marathi for Mumbai and Nagpur

English and Kannada for Bangalore

English and Bengali for Kolkata
