About Azad Foundation

Azad is a professional feminist organization working across social and religious divides to enable resource poor women to empower themselves by engaging them in viable non- traditional livelihood options. Azad is committed to breaking patriarchal boundaries and structures so that the women can exercise control over their lives and live a life of dignity. This is done through transformative capacity building programs around the self and the skills needed for non-traditional livelihood, based on adult learning principles. Azad also engages with both men and women in their communities so that both can construct a safe and supportive space for their development. Currently Azad Foundation operates directly in Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai and Kolkata and in partnership with other organizations in Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. 

About RPAC

The Research, Policy Analysis and Communications team of Azad Foundation functions as an action research team which brings insights from the ground to build and share knowledge.  Working closely with programme teams, RPAC also helps in monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis of the programmes at Azad.  It also builds alliances with relevant individuals, CSOs, NGOs, Policy makers and researchers to strengthen advocacy, influence policy and improve Practices on the ground.

The Thematic Lead RPAC is expected to maximize the positive impact of our programmes by overseeing the design and implementation of a Research, Advocacy and Communications portfolio. She/he is expected to contribute actively in shaping the agenda of the RPAC team, such that it is in line with the Azad Foundation, Five Year Strategy. RPAC director is responsible for delivering on the commitments as articulated in the Strategic Plan, and to do this, with participation and shared ownership of the larger team of Azad. As a leader to the RPAC team, the Thematic Lead is also expected to lead, mentor, nurture and support the team members to ensure each member is able to harness their fullest potential. As a member of the core leadership team, RPAC Thematic Lead will also be contributing to Institutional strategic development and growth. 

Role Description – Key Responsibilities

You will be overall responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring the RPAC agenda as per the Azad Strategic plan and building and supporting a team that is able to

Specifically

Researct

Conceptualize, design and prepare a Research & communication plan around Non Traditional Livelihoods and Women and allied issues as well as other thematic areas on which Azad Works and undertake effective dissemination of research findings. Ensure the findings get plugged into the mainstream knowledge systems, reputed journals and shared in the media.

Ensure the quality data collected is analyzed timely and feedback to the internal stakeholders in time and in a manner that supports their work

Spearhead policy analyses efforts required to be undertaken for building of a favorable eco-system of Non Traditional Livelihoods for women with various stakeholders such as community members, collectives, organizations, corporate organization, media and national and international policy makers.

Develop strategies for Azad’s engagement with the various media (audiovisual, social, print & digital) to ensure consistency of messaging and effectively packaging the messages with which Azad plans to reach out.

Facilitate monthly meetings, quarterly learning assessment of the implementation of the operational plan and present learning analysis to the leadership.

Plan and ensure execution of institutional processes, such as reviews, alumni meets, and campaigns, as core team members.

Able to hold a team, consultants, stakeholders, network members and ready to work with several teams internally.

Networking with potential partners, stakeholders, CSOs, policymakers and others. 

Other

To be responsible for building and strengthening the RPAC team.

To prepare annual plans and budgets for the team and report against the same.

Define and monitor performance standards for the team and to undertake regular reviews.

Ensure team management and build capacities.

Collaborate with the resource mobilization team on donor proposal development and ensure timely and accurate reporting to the donors

Have a fairly updated perspective about current local and global development discourses, structures and mechanisms

Professional Experience - 10-12 years’ experience of working in the Social Sector / NGO/policy research organization and of having been in leadership position

Good oral and written communication skills (English /Hindi (Knowledge of Bengali and Tamil as well will be an additional advantage)

Excellent leadership skills and the ability to coordinate a team efficiently in order to implement the organization’s mission.

Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, arbitration and multitasking skills, as the job requires the ability to manage diverse situations

Mobility within the assigned area. The job will require moderate travel.

Excellent skill of working with multiple teams.

Open to new ideas, concepts and learnings.

CTC- 1,00,000 - 1,05,000/Month
