Dalit Development Programme [DDP], Mannanam in Kottayam was a major rural development project for the Dalit community undertaken by Samagra Vikas in partnership with the European Commission and Karl Kuebel Stiftung, Germany. The objective of this project was to improve the life situation of the Dalit community through a process of social empowerment and sustainable economic development. Various interventions of the project were construction of new concrete houses, renovation of damaged ones, promotion of income generation activities such as goat-rearing, food processing units, animal husbandry, dress making etc. Training sessions on computer application, tailoring and social-empowerment were the other important capacity-building activities.
