Nominations now open for Kaushalacharya Award-2022

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) instituted the Kaushalacharya Award in 2019 (This Award carries a Certificate) as an annual affair, to felicitate trainers from different sectors for exceptional contribution towards creating a future-ready and skilled work-force in a bid to motivate and incentivize more trainers to join the Skill India Mission   and  also to recognize the contribution made by skill trainers in the vocational training ecosystem and entrepreneurial initiatives to motivate young entrepreneurs  for taking up self employment as means of livelihood.   The 4th edition of the Award will be held in 2022. The Award ceremony have normally be presided over by the Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(SDE) and Minister of State, SDE.


It is estimated India will need about 2.5 lakh trainers across the skilling ecosystem.  Under MSDE aegis, the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) and Directorate General of Training(DGT) are working together to create better quality trainers and assessors.  


Under the Kaushalacharya Award there are five categories as  under:


1. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY)


2. Jan Shikshan Sansthan(JSS)


3. Apprenticeship


4. Entrepreneurship


5. DGT


Eligibility :


PMKVY Kaushalacharya Awards:


All PMKVY trainers and master trainers are eligible to apply.


Applicants for the awards should be TOT certified at the time of applying for the award fulfilling the educational and experience requirement as per SSC guidelines. 


Previous year winners are not eligible for this award.


Jan Shikshan Sansthan(JSS) Kaushalacharya Awards:


-Minimum of 3 years of engagement as resource person with a particular Jan Shikshan Sansthan.


-Minimum 120 Beneficiaries trained in last 3 financial years i.e. 2019-20, 2020-21 & 2021-22.


-Those who already got Kaushalacharya Award are not eligible for the award.


-Those working in any Government Department/institutions are not eligible the award.


-This award carried a certificate.


Directorate General of Training(DGT) :


Award Category:


Skill Trainers and Master Trainers  (long term vocational training):


Skill Trainers - The scheme is open to regular Skill Trainers working in Directorate General of Training (DGT) accredited Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs) and National skill Training Institutes(NSTIs) with at least 3 years regular teaching experience prior to their nomination/self-nomination.


Master Trainers - The scheme is open to regular Master Trainers(Training Officers, Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors) working in National Skill Training Institutes(NSTIs) with  at least 05 years regular teaching experience.


Enterpreneurship(ENP) Trainers Category awards:


Entrepreneurship Development Trainee


Mentoring & Handholding Service Provider


Research & Consultancy Services Provider


Award for Best Establishments:


The scheme is open to all the registered active establishments on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal.

Who can nominate? :






PMKVY Kaushalacharya Awards:


Category 1: National Award for Trainer Excellence (Excellence in training)


Eligible trainers can self-nominate/be nominated by TPs or SSDMs.


Only one self-nomination allowed


Training Partners/SSDMs can nominate one trainer in each sector group


Screened on following parameters:


Ø  Number of candidates certified from batches trained by trainer


Ø  Placement performance of candidates from batches trained by trainer


Ø  Years of experience as trainer


Ø  TP/SSDM recommendations/testimonials, past awards/recognition


Ø  Candidate feedback (5) or consolidated trainer rating if available with TP


Category 2 : National Award for Master Trainers(Excellence in providing Training of Trainers)


Eligible master trainers can self- nominate/be nominated by SSCs


Only one self-nomination allowed


Only one nomination in case of SSC


Screened basis following parameters:


Ø  Number of trainers trained


Ø  Experience in skill development ecosystem as Master trainer


Ø  SSC recommendation/testimonial, past awards/recognition


Ø  Feedback from ToT trained trainers (5) or consolidated master trainer rating if available from SSC


Jan Shikshan Sansthan(JSS) Kaushalacharya Awards:

Directorate General of Training(DGT) : Award Category: Skill Trainers and Master Trainers  (long term vocational training):


Skill Trainers - (i) A State Govt. may send only 2 nominations from each category (ii) Candidates can also apply directly/self nomination.


 The State level Selection Committee  shall scrutinize and recommend candidates/nomination  from the list of nominations recommended by the Principal/Director of the Institute concerned to the Union Government . The National level Committee   would  make the final recommendation of the selected candidates. 


Master Trainers - (i) An Institute may send only 2 nominations from each category (ii) Candidates can also apply directly/self nomination.


Enterpreneurship(ENP) Trainers Category awards:

Eligible establishment can apply self on awards portal.


Selection Process :


PMKVY Kaushalacharya Awards:


The applications submitted would be first evaluated on basis of quantitative parameters like the number of trainees certified, placement parameter etc


The selected applications/nominations would then be evaluated by a Screening Committee basis qualitative parameters including the achievements, experience and contributions of the nominee in the skilling sector


Awards Selection Committee will then evaluate the applications shared and declare final winners for Category 1 and Category 2 for each of the 5 sector groups totaling 10 awards.


Jan Shikshan Sansthan(JSS) Kaushalacharya Awards:

The nomination / self-nomination received would be scrutinised by the Standing Committee.  Five finalists would be shortlisted from among the nominees based on selection criteria keeping in view the  factors - (i) Self-Assessment (ii)  Principal’s Assessment and (iii)  State Assessment.
