Giving the earth its due

The amphitheatre at Carter Road, Bandra,is a hub of all things cultural and innovative. Last weekend saw yet another event that attracted locals to this hub. The morning of March 19 witnessed a cyclothon hosted by the Young Environmentalists NGO, as part of its Earth Hour celebrations. Amidst the early morning breeze and tender sunshine, enthusiastic cyclists took to the road in the presence of dignitaries such as Asif Zakaria, Municipal Councillor of Bandra West; Nigel Smith, a British cyclist; Kaustub from the Maharashtra Cycle Federation, Sameer from Giant St?rkenn and others. The ride, which had two versions, a 5 km long and a 10 km long one, saw takers in close to 200 participants (178 had registered officially).
