NGO Childline will launch a programme on Tuesday to free the city of child beggars by sensitising people and putting up posters at 100 places across Nashik, mostly at traffic signals.
The NGO will also discourage people from giving alms to child beggars. The decision was taken ahead of the upcoming academic year with an aim to educate all the out-of-school children.
"Our mantra is 'free the city of child beggars.' We will be inaugurating the campaign on Tuesday at Hutatma Smarak. We will put up posters reading 'from the streets to the schools' at all the traffic signals. The banners will be put up under the ministry of woman and child welfare, Government of India," said Mahendra Vinchurkar, director of Childline.
