The state government has decided to implement the policy of 'No Work, No Pay' for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ashram Schools run by the non-governmental organisations (NGO's) without following the guidelines. The state government has cancelled permission of the NGO run Ashram schools after they found that the NGO's are flouting the rules decided by the Tribal Development Department from time to time. The notification issued by the department on Wednesday registers the scathing observation over functioning of such Ashram schools.
"The staff people of the Ashram Schools who are not permitted to operate are deriving salaries and the similar tendency is growing in the staff of other schools. Due to unproductive work, the state's treasury is facing financial burden and moreover, the standard of education too is on decline," states the notification.
There are over 400 residential schools sanctioned by the state government for tribal community. Over 1 lakh st
udents are enrolled in the Ashram Schools by the tribal welfare department.
