Nearly a month after 22 of its animals were confiscated by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), Rambo Circus in Pune finally got back its animals on Wednesday following orders of a court in Pimpri two days ago.
Though the court ordered AWBI to co-operate with the investigating officer and comply with its order, when the circus staff reached ResQ Centre near Bavdhan where the animals had been kept, they were refused entry without the presence of the investigating officer NM Landge.
By around 1.30 pm on Wednesday, Landge gave a letter signed by him to the circus officials and asked them to present the same at the ResQ centre to pick up the animals. By 4 pm, four vehicles, two dog caretakers, four mahouts and a few more people from the circus side had gathered at the centre to collect the animals. However, they were again refused entry despite presenting the letter.
