A day after miscreants vandalized the office of Human Development and Research Centre (HDRC) - St Xavier's Non-Formal Education Society, various human and civic rights activists came out in support of the content of the advertisement for sanitation worker by the NGO, that has courted controversy.
Activists associated with various organizations - Indukumar Jani, Gautam Thaker, Rohit Shukla and Mahesh Pandya issued a joint statement with the NGO's secretary Jimmy Dabhi urging other voluntary organization to take up the issue for the purpose of social equality, so that other castes may shed their abhorrence for menial jobs.
Meanwhile, a group of activists including Vasudev Charuka and Rafi Malek tendered a statement to the district collector on Thursday supporting the NGO's take on the controversy.
