NGO organises orientation-workshop for elderly citizens

NGO Aastha Foundation organised a workshop on the topic of leading a stress-free and healthy lifestyle for senior citizens, in Aurangabad recently. At the workshop, Mangala Joglekar, social activist of Dementia Care-giver in Pune, gave tips on ways to remain tension-free and lead a healthy life. She suggested meditation to keep stress at bay.
She also explained about dementia, which affects people after the age of 65. "It is a progressive brain dysfunction that affects memory, thinking, behaviour and ability to perform everyday activities. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. After age 65, the likelihood of developing dementia roughly doubles every five years," she said.
