The Y-flyover at Jedhe chowk in Swargate has recently been commissioned and part of the two wheeler and car traffic from Satara road to Shanker seth road and Sarasbaug has begun using the flyover. However it is seen that very few vehicles use the flyover as compared to the total traffic passing through Jedhe chowk, convener of Pedestrians First, Prashant Inamdar has said.
"This shows that the flyover is not serving the intended purpose of reducing traffic congestion and is hence a failure," Inamdar said. In an email sent to Pune Municipal Commissioner and the Pune police, he said that conditions for pedestrians have also not been improved. The situation will worsen with the construction of the grade separator.
