Salaydih Village becomes Child labour & Child Marriage free Village

Located 8 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Koderma is Salaydih Village where children have been rid of the curses of Child Labour and Child Marraige and are beginning a fesh lease of life.  The chidren are changing thamselves after learning about the ill effects of child labour and child marriage and the importance of education. 


They have also taken a stand against these malpractices. The situation has changed towards the better and the village has thus become a child marriage and child labour free village. Activitists from Samarpan and another NGO has shown these children the right direction. A decade ago, the situation of the village was not like this. Earlier, the girls of the village were married off at the tender age of 10-15 years and children used to drop out of schools to work as child labours, doing various odd jobs. The organizatins started empowering the children. With support from the organizations Laxmi Bai Kishori Club was formed in the year 2006. The organization sensitzed the child memebers of the club on the ill-effects of child labour and child marriage. They were also made aware of the importance of education. They were provided tips on staging songs and drama based on those issues.
