PANAJI: The state cabinet on Wednesday granted approval to form a corporate social responsibility (CSR) authority under the finance department to channelise CSR contribution from government PSUs and private sector companies for development of the backward talukas of the state.
The authority will be formed under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with an objective to bring adequate clarity on the new CSR regime, channelise the CSR contribution for optimum utilisation of the CSR fund through a sustainable mechanism and channelise the CSR fund commensurate to the sectoral priority of government, ensure the contribution of various companies towards the CSR activities, as per the provision of the new Companies Act, 2013 and channelise CSR fund to backward talukas in the state of Goa.
Cabinet also granted ex post facto extension to deputy director (public health) Dr Jose D' Sa holding the charge of director of health services beyond the date of his superannuation for further period of one year with effect from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021 or till the post is filled on regular basis whichever is earlier.
