Gurgaon: To train public transport drivers, including cabbies, the Hyundai Motors India Foundation on Friday launched a year-long road safety project.
The campaign - 'Project Townhall: Mission Gurgaon' launched at the Sector 12 bus stand - aims at bringing behavioural changes among these drivers, with a safety message - 'Dhyan Do'.

Through this campaign, Hyundai aims to reach out to 34,000 drivers and educate them on the significance of basic healthcare like regular eye check-ups and its implications on overall safe driving practices.

"Under our global vision 'Progress for Humanity', we aim to create an amicable ecosystem realising dreams of mankind by going 'Beyond Mobility' and creating future role models driving social change," said SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motors India.

"Our (Gurgaon) project endeavours to spread awareness about the importance of self-healthcare and road safety of drivers. We are confident this initiative will go a long way in changing mindscapes to develop an evolved ociety and sustainable environment," he added.

Besides conducting health camps, Hyundai will also organise workshops or public transport drivers and those working for cab aggregators like Ola and Uber.

"It has been noticed that there's very little awareness about healthcare and its impact on safe driving behaviour among the drivers. We aim to sensitise drivers in various districts of the state. Also, there'll be training and workshops on how to make roads safer," said a Hyundai spokesperson.
