Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) is a federation of 24 State Voluntary Health Associations, comprising over 4000 health and development organizations and grassroots-level community health programs. VHAI is dedicated to realizing its vision of "Making Health and Development a Reality for the People of India" through advocating people-centered policies and implementing innovative health and development programs at the grassroots level. VHAI is currently looking a Programme Officer to join its team. The Programme Officer will play a key role in implementing a comprehensive Health Promotion and Tobacco Control programme at the national and state levels. This position involves collaborating with stakeholders to advance policy-focused campaigns aimed at reducing tobacco prevalence and strengthening the Public Health agenda in India. The Programme Officer will work closely with the Project Director to support programme execution and policy-level initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and support key programmatic efforts related to tobacco control and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

• Work in partnership with civil society organizations and government stakeholders to advocate for policy change in public health.

• Anticipate emerging issues related to NCDs and develop proactive strategies to address them.

• Build and maintain relationships with senior bureaucrats and other stakeholders.

• Coordinate and sensitize multiple stakeholders, including citizen representatives and civil society, while navigating political and policy dynamics.

• Draft proposals, write donor reports, and effectively communicate orally and in writing.

• Manage projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multitasking efficiently.

• Conduct outstation travel to states as required.

• Lead, manage, and implement various processes and activities as part of the overall strategic advocacy plan.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Social Work/Social Sciences, or Law from a reputed university or college.

• 7-10 years of demonstrated experience working on policy issues in public health at the national level.

• Proven track record of coordinating projects related to policy change and meeting deadlines.

• Understanding of tools and practices for influencing public health policies in India.

• Strong written, oral, and public speaking skills.

• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and build capacities.

• Willingness to undertake outstation travel and work in Delhi.

Additional Information:

• This is a contractual position.

• Emoluments will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
