Cividep India is a labour support NGO based in Bangalore which focuses on workers’ rights and corporate accountability. Cividep works to empower workers in sectors such as garments, leather, electronics and plantation.
Job Summary
The Field Coordinator based in Sunguvarchattram, Tamil Nadu will lead all field activities in the Electronics sector. The work involves field research on working conditions, organizing training programmes and weekly study circles for the electronics workers, conducting worker outreach activities and networking with other civil society organizations, trade unions, and local government authorities.
Female candidates are preferred.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate all field activities in the electronics sector in Sunguvarchattram and Kanchipuram.
Oversee the functioning of the Workers’ Resource Centre in Sunguvarchattram with the guidance of Project Lead and Project Coordinator.
Supervise and monitor Field Officers and provide guidance
Coordinate field research including interviews and surveys with workers and other stakeholders such as trade unions and government officials.
Organize and facilitate periodic training and awareness programmes for workers on social security, gender, labour and human rights.
Draft training reports and weekly work reports
Liaise with officials from government bodies/agencies in Tamil Nadu, such as the ESI, Provident Fund and Labour Department
Liaise with other civil society organizations and trade unions in the region
Communicate with and send regular work reports to the Project Lead and Project Coordinator
Qualifications
Post-Graduation in Social Sciences or a related field such as Social Work, NGO Management, Development or Gender Studies)
3-6 years of professional experience in the development sector preferably on gender and workers’ rights.
Having an understanding of the relevant issues and experience working with civil society organisations and affected communities.
Experience in conducting training and planning and organising outreach programmes
Experience in managing a team and working with multiple stakeholders
Knowledge of labour law and human rights is preferred
Excellent communication skills in Tamil and English with good report-writing skills
Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
Compensation:
Monthly salary can be expected to range from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 based on qualifications and relevant experience.
