Position: Communications Manager (Consultant)

About Sanjog:
Sanjog is a social impact organization dedicated to combating gender-based violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence while promoting safer migration systems. We collaborate with various CSOs, CBOs, and collectives to strengthen policy frameworks, empower individual and community leadership, and amplify narratives that strengthen the resilience of marginalized communities and systems.
About the Role:
Sanjog is on the lookout for a dynamic and enthusiastic communications professional to spearhead the creation and management of our organization's communications priorities and activities. This middle management level position demands strategic planning, seamless coordination, collaborative efforts, and execution of tasks when necessary.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Content, Materials, and Web Development (60%):
Lead the production of high-quality, engaging materials, impact stories, and content to showcase Sanjog’s multifaceted work (including content for website, press, reports, and social media).
Manage and update all of Sanjog’s communications channels regularly, including the website and social media accounts.
Create a roadmap based on recent internal reports to enhance social media content and brand perception.
Support program communications by drafting, proofreading, and editing social media posts, newsletters, press releases, etc.
Ensure regular maintenance of the website with new and consistent information.
Collaborate with external agencies to develop media assets that effectively communicate key messaging for our initiatives across various domains.
Provide training to project teams on designing relevant communications materials.
Monitor social media trends and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement
Events (Virtual and Physical) – (30%):
Execute communications activities around key events and milestones.
Plan, manage, and deliver communications activities for significant events.
Provide support in conferences and trainings through presentations, posters, exhibition stands, etc.
Support to Fundraising and Donor Management (10%):
Manage relevant internal and external relationships as requested by other divisions.
Engage in networking for resource mapping, local fundraising, sponsorships, volunteer and intern identification, and partnerships with universities and other knowledge partners.
Craft compelling messages that resonate with donors and potential funders
Enhance organizational visibility by writing about our programs and learnings.
Education and Experience:
MA in English/Journalism/Public Relations/Advertising/Mass Communication.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification professional experience in a communications role.
Essential Experience and Skills:
Experience in the non-profit sector.
Proficient proofreading, copywriting, and editing skills, including for web and social media.
Experience managing communications agencies.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
Proficiency in using relevant digital systems such as Hootsuite and Google Analytics.
Additional Skills and Requirements:
Proficiency in managing social media handles and knowledge of SEO techniques.
Ability to create quality visual products to generate interest in specific issues.
Proven experience in social media management and content creation
Desirable Experience and Skills:
Understanding of working with national and international press and social media.
Ability to simplify complex information into clear, understandable language.
Ability to create meaningful stories, with creative instincts about how best to tell stories through different marketing and communications channels
Working knowledge of designing software like Corel Draw, Adobe Creative Cloud software such as Photoshop, In-design, Page Maker, etc.
Additional Information
The Communication Manager will be expected to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.
Salary:
Consolidated pay: 60,000 INR per month.
Field visits will be reimbursed based on actual expenses.
Contract Details:
The contract is for 6 months with the possibility of renewal subject to performance assessments, funding availability, and mutual interests.
