The Code is working with smallholder tea growers, bought leaf factories, estates and packers to address some of the key challenges in the industry including working conditions, health and safety of tea workers, water pollution, food safety, soil erosion and contamination. Trustea Sustainable Tea Foundation is a Section 8 company that independently manages the trustea program.

trustea has been engaged to implement a long-term large scale Regenerative Agriculture project across tea plantations and small holder farms in all tea growing regions of India.

To implement this project, we are hiring Regenerative Agriculture Field Officers/Senior Field Officers. The selected personnel will manage the field implementation of the Project. The project will provide an opportunity to be a part of a large-scale project that aims at facilitating the transformation of the Indian tea industry to a climate resilient low carbon regime.

Location: Assam, West Bengal & South India.

Travel: Involves extensive travel to the location specific project gardens

Type of employment: Long-term contract of 5 years on full time basis with yearly renewal.

Remuneration: Will be commensurate with experience and qualification. 

YOUR BACKGROUND:

Graduate/ Post graduate in agriculture/environmental science/ botany/ biotechnology/ tea husbandry.

3-5 years of proven track-relevant experience of working in tea plantations with knowledge regarding sustainable cultivation practices in tea.

Experience in conducting soil sampling and field trial implementation is a plus.

Experience in working across various tea growing regions in India is a plus. 

KEY QUALITIES OF REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE FIELD OFFICERS/ SENIOR FIELD OFFICERS:

Manage the field work effectively and ensure conformity to Field Management Schedule.

Visit the project gardens in a scheduled manner to ensure timely adoption/ application of the recommendations.

Take note of any existing challenges and provide solutions to the stakeholders after consultation with the Project management Team, in order to ensure deliverables in a time bound manner.

To act as the link between Project gardens and the Project Management Team, to ensure projects’ outputs, outcomes and impacts. 

Multi-tasker with thorough skills to manage deadline, deal with pressure, keep track of the progress of Regen-Ag activities in the garden and be ready to rearrange processes in response to new information. 

LANGUAGE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Fluency in English in addition to at least the local language of the respective tea growing locations. Posting will be based on the fluency of the local language.

Direct experience of working in tea growing operations/research organisation in tea in Assam, West Bengal & South India is a plus.
