Urban Management Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to ‘Making Cities Work for Everyone’.
Since 1997, we have been working towards systems change in the urban ecosystem of India, and have promoted innovations in professionalisation of municipal roles, better performance management and governance, equity and inclusion, climate justice and occupational health and safety. We are a dynamic team of 90+ professionals ranging across fields like urban planning, software engineering, design, social sciences, and finance. UMC is a Section 8 Company, with a recently renewed FCRA licence, and Section 12A tax exemption.
UMC works closely with Government partners and Donors on these initiatives. Our previous and current collaborators include the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and the Ministry of Social Justice and Welfare - Government of India; State Governments including Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat; USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, etc.
We are looking for a Manager - Fundraising to support the organisation’s leadership in fundraising efforts. The Manager’s responsibilities will focus on diversification of philanthropic funding, both for programs and organisational development. The candidate will work closely with the Directors to develop the fundraising strategy, design offerings for potential partners, and maintain engagement. The Manager will be supported in this role by the grant-writing and communications teams.
Fundraising Manager’s Responsibilities:
Develop and iterate the organisation fundraising strategy
Develop pitches and presentations for donors based on technical plans and proposals prepared by program teams
Identify and create opportunities
Organise and represent the organisation in events and to partners
Collaborate closely with the communications teams to promote the organisation's message, through various media.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
5+ year’s experience in a non-profit organisation, in a fundraising role.
Master’s in Communications or Marketing is preferred but not required.
Expected Competencies include Pitching philanthropic or social work.
Values driven communication, developing collaterals and engaging audiences
In-person and Online presentation skills, in both formal and informal settings
